THE ICE IS BREAKING UP
We are happy to announce that we now have a hand picked selection of stillwater and bass flies available on our website! We have been putting these patterns to the test for the past 3 years on RAINBOWS, CUTTHROAT and BASS. Shop 20 new patterns! Today is also the first day we will be selling our new Glow Squirmito! This squirmy material glows in the dark and attracts tons of fish. This stuff is great for spring run off and ice off!!! Fishing small midges on tailwaters has always been very effective. It’s a known way to trick finicky trout that are often pressured by winter anglers. Battling an aggressive rainbow on 5x and 6x tippet with a 6wt is also pretty fun. I like to use an attractor pattern when fishing midges. This can be an egg, a worm, a leech or just a large stonefly. Using larger patterns fish can see will draw attention to your rig. I caught this fish on a size 22 bling midge that was followed by a size 8 bu**er. I used the bu**er as my weight which in return keeps the midge suspended; meanwhile the weight is below the midge provided by my second fly second fly. I also put on a bu**er because it gave the fish something to see once the sun set over the horizon. An attractor/midge is a great tandem rig for nymphing.
