SQUATTERS! ; A Cute Story
The women in the bus adjacent to us reached out to me asking for help out of desperation. That exchange can be found on Instagram in a public post. We believed we were coming here to rescue her, in a sense. I have asked for no monetary compensation, whatsoever. She was well aware we’d need to be here, in our bus, in order to help and get her on the road. The deadline, 3 weeks. We had no backup plan basing our deal on good faith.
During the planned process, there was I stressful moment which Kelly, the other bus owner, began to meltdown. I proceeded to excuse myself to give her a moment to herself . Hoping for some composure before returning I texted and remained cordial and polite.
I explained that emotional support was not part of the deal and I could not provide that. That’s when the conversation changed and we were tossed off the job and asked to leave immediately. (All in the text exchange). She then threatened us with the police and being physically removed.
Of course, we were extremely offended by the actions of someone that was getting free help. The police came. She made accusations that were and are unfounded . Which is why they took no action.
Furthermore, I’ve cleared things with the homeowner to remain on the property for a few more days so we can secure our new location.

IT SHOULD BE NOTED: Shes had “problems” with anyone that has tried to help her. We are not the common denominator .
If you are a neighbor of this women, I promise , she has talked badly about everyone of them. The plan for the work I was doing was changed 4 times in a week. I’m made no complaints and tried to accommodate some very ridiculous requests.

Our personal opinion: she is very emotionally unstable person with a possible disorder.

Interesting enough, her obvious attempt to ruin our standing in a community of nomads and vagabonds alike will only expose her to the community. What will she do when she’s faced with a similar situation when she is in her rig , on the road dealing with the stigmas that come with our lifestyle choice

My coming clutch as a stabilizer jack ! One to taking damn near all the shaking and movement out of a 35 foot Skoolie! Sad I had to give up my . It was a sad loss to Covid . But, in her memory, I kept my HiLift Jack . Now I know why! Now I want another one ! It only makes sense!

The perfect test of my work is currently in progress. Aside from some icy build up on our windows, we’ve experienced only comfort so far. And honestly, I think one of my best purchases was the 20,000 BTU furnace with thermostat. Clean, strong and reliable is what I have to say. No babysitting needed. No ashes ! No smell ! Just absolutely working for us! Super stoked to be hit with harsh and cold weather to give me a base line from I can feel secure with my work! It’s gonna be another fun year ahead with tiny house shows, music festivals and adventure. We have a solid home base to come back to as we travel around looking for all our nomad friends across the land. Akasha saying hello to her new neighbors! So amazing being this comfortable in a tiny house we built ourselves! Temps reaching into the negatives and we are kicking blankets off from being too hot! I’ll dial in the thermostat settings over time. I’d rather be in a position of too much warmth rather than too much cold . We are so happy we made the jump!

Our new spot ! Consisting of a full farm and horse rehab ! So stoked to be on this property. Was 22* last night and we were super toasty! All that insulation I put in is working so well! We can’t wait until our friends come and spend some time on this property with us!

No modifications were necessary in putting this 75 gallon tank in . I swapped out our smaller tank fo an upgrade. Now the smaller will be mounted underneath as backup water supply! Incidentally, this was the original tank in mind and was measured into the build! Fit like a glove!

Delivery day is so much , right? Look how much the Amazon Rain fell@on us today! 😂! Our upgraded water tank and all the major components for comfort have arrived. Now, I just have to figure how to hook it all up! 😅😅😅

ONE WEEK! In one week we go nomadic. We are staying in Colorado so I’m happy to say that our furnace arrived just in time. 20k BTU is far more than we need to stay warm but this is an overkill for obvious reasons. Jen is feeling better about baring the weather for the next few months.

If you don’t know anything about our build, the one most recognizable feature is that we have a backwards setup, compared to the traditional Skoolie conversion. Although we are not completely done, she’s at a usable state and we’ve definitely put her to the test. With our living space in the rear of the bus we were able to create a living room with 2 couches. However, we recently realized by removing one of the couches we open the space up quite significantly without losing seating. We couldn’t be happier. Now some custom cushions and we’re in business!

The BIG PUSH! I know can feel this comment! The strangest turn of events in a crazy year has lead us to only weeks before setting sale. Leaving behind the orthodox lifestyle for a less traditional way! Since we will be posting up in Colorado over the next few months we had to reconsider our ability to retain warmth! So, I grabbed whatever insulation I had lying around and started filling holes 😳🤣🤣! The roof hatches and several windows were fitted and filled! We are super excited for this next chapter and looking forward to the future! Only 10 months behind schedule but HERE WE GO! make sure you like , share and follow to keep up on our journey. This is embarrassing!!! So, when I built our toilet I was aware of urine diverters but didn’t know that there is a kit you can buy. Thinking I was being smart, I wandered the plumbing section at the ol’ Home Depot and I grabbed some stuff I thought would work as a urine diverter. What you see is a toilet flange/connector with some random pluming to connect to my grey tank. This actually worked well@for me but not at all for Jen. Hitting the hole was apparently not convenient for the ladies. Jen actually ended up needing a “GoGirl” to help hit the target. This is totally impractical for long term usage. So, taking some notes from our friends , who are also completing their Skoolie build as well and happen to be our direct neighbors, I found out about Jonny Compost kit (seen in photos above). Because my toilet is completely custom, made out of a living room end table and modified to accept a hatch and toilet, I was unsure if I could make the new modifications with the Jonny Compost kit. But low and behold it all went in without a hitch. Jen had to give it all a test run before her complete approval! Moving in to our Skoolie full time in 25 days and I’m happy to make Jen happy with this mod!

Ugh! I need 2 more feet of 6awg wire of both positive and negative to complete my solar hookups. I knew I forgot something!!! 🤷🏻🤦🏻 I’ve got some cleaning up of the overall aesthetics to sill do. And yes, I do have 2 solar charge controllers. That’s because I have 2 separate solar arrays. In order to not reduce amps or voltage coming into my system and also to avoid system complications, due to having multiple types of panels, I had to opt for a second controller. The added controller had a cost but will pay for itself over time. Now each one of my arrays pulls the best possible efficiency in optimal conditions. This was a very confusing part of the project, for me. I was extremely apprehensive. That’s because I knew nothing about electricity, solar, inverter, blah blah blah. Really, I knew nothing. Thanks to and for providing the knowledge and confidence to get this done! I have great friends with great knowledge. I fortunate for this. I’ve learned a significant amount of electrical! I’m looking forward to hooking up the 30amp, residential fuse box and running all the 12v systems. Just goes to show you, you can mix solar arrays and you can even wire them together. While that’s not recommended, there are ways to do it safely. Or you can just allow the separate system to be independent. I can tell you, this is the most efficient way to continue to dump energy into the batteries. I can’t wait to get the water done and put in those fixtures.
