Want to talk about a good dog? This girl right here protects the property day and night off all critters. Lately our property has been overrun with coyotes and this girl right here has been protecting her flock tirelessly. Very thankful to have such a faithful companion on the farm.

Huge shoutout to Will Pappan for providing us with such a wonderful pup.

This is the part of farming that sucks; our pasture fence was taken out by flooding and debris.

I will forever share this!

I have fallen in love with making my own juice I’ve have branched out into blueberries and pineapple. These were on clearance and I couldn’t resist. I have calculated the cost per quart and it was less than .34 cents a quart (this doesn’t include jar cost because they were free years ago). In a world where anything slightly good for you costs a fortune you can’t afford not to make your own.

This recipe is as follows:

Quart jars and rings
1 3/4 cup fresh fruit (make sure you wash them!)
1/3 cup sugar (or a sugar substitute like honey)
Fill with water
Hand tighten the lids
Water bath totally submereged for 20 minutes at a rolling boil

These will need to steep for at least 4 weeks preferably 6 weeks if you can!

Sharing this post because I frequently post my eggs for sale for 5$ a dozen and people claim they are too expensive. It’s interesting that grocery stores I’ve seen charging upwards of 10$ a dozen for “pasture quality” are sold out? Interesting.

This is what a grocery store chain in Texas is charging for Pasture Raised colored eating eggs. And they are FREQUENTLY SOLD OUT!!! You *should* be profiting from your colored egg laying flock or at the very least have them paying for 100% of their own feed and expenses. Here's how:

Two ingredient Fruit Snacks or Gummies.
Homemade fruit snacks or gummies whichever you prefer. Let me preface this with I no longer put mine in fancy molds and I’ll put the photo in the comments as to why!

1/4 cup beef gelatin
32 ounces of any juice

In a saucepan pour the entire contents of the juice. Sprinkle 1/4 cup of gelatin onto the top of the juice evenly. Allow it to bloom (I have put pictures up so that you can see it). It looks weird as it is “blooming” but trust the process for a few minutes. Once it has bloomed place on a stovetop on medium to low heat until the gelatin has completely dissolved stirring occasionally to help the process. I do not boil it and the way I learned it you are literally just warming enough to get it to dissolve.

I have two large stainless sheet pans ready to pour evening into for it to cool. You can use molds but I don’t have that kind of time of patience to try and pry them out just to get a few pretty ones 🤣 but no judgement however you want to do this.

I have started making these for many reasons but the health benefits of eliminating harmful additives is at the top of the list. My kid LOVES these, I cannot make enough. Every kid loves jello and fruit snacks but the dyes and the harmful chemicals are a no go for us. These have all the goodness without the junk. Beef gelatin is great for gut health, bones and joint, hair skin and nails, and it’s added protein!

Grace has been by my side side Roxy kid two days ago. She has helped clean, milk, and do checks on mama and Ben. I am so very proud of this girl. Farm kids are a different breed, she didn’t blink once during the birth of Ben. How can such a young human be so incredible and brave. God continues to watch over us and bless our little family.

Our Story

We are a small family owned farm located in the small town of Collinsville, Oklahoma. We are making some big changes here on the farm, branching out and working towards expanding our little farm to bring more offerings to our local farmers markets. We took on a bee hive earlier this year and we will be expanding that operation in the spring of 2020. We will be offering locally grown vegetables, canned goods, and more.

We are NPIP certified, member of the APA/ABA and American Silkie Bantam Club and I am also the Arkansas State representative for the American Silkie Bantam Club.

Since I was a young child my passion for poultry and farming has been an ever growing love. Raising chickens most of my life has given me some of the best experiences and memories. When I met my husband I told him it was my dream to have a farm and raise exhibition poultry again, luckily it became his dream too! We have a beautiful daughter name Grace Lynn who was born with a CHD (Congenital Heart Defect) in 2018 who since she came home from heart surgery is the soul of our little homestead. Daily Grace makes her way out to help watch her mama tend to the chickens and loves to pet the “chick chicks”.
