ONE WEEK FROM TODAY I will be making a donation to the winner of our national Philanthropy Day Winner Takes All Donation Race! Will it be 1820 Col. Benjamin Stephenson House that is currently in the lead with 5 votes or will the Collinsville Food Pantry lunge ahead with more votes (they currently have one). Or is there a dark horse laying in wait for their supports to all make their donations on Tuesday, the last day voting takes place.

The Collinsville Daily News is proud to announce it will make a donation to ONE SPECIAL NONPROFIT (501(c)3) ORGANIZATION on November 15 for National Philanthropy Day! Each vote is $10, payable through PayPal to [email protected]. Put the name of the nonprofit you want to see win in the comments of your donation. All nonprofits named will be run through the IRS nonprofit database search.

The winning nonprofit will be given a check on November 15 for the TOTAL AMOUNT DONATED! We will verify each 501(c)3's status through the IRS website. Churches, local units of government (city, library, township, park district, etc) are not eligible.

Any nonprofit within 10 miles of city hall is eligible for nomination and winning. Rough boundaries are: Our Lady of the Snow Shrine in Belleville on the South, Benjamin Stephenson House in Edwardsville on the North, Jackie Joyner Kersee Foundation on the West, and Habitat For Humanity (O'Fallon, IL) to the East.

Comment and tag below the nonprofit you donated in hopes of winning. All nonprofits who receive at least one vote ($10) will be mentioned in the award post.

Updates will be provided.

We still have JUST ONE VOTE for the Collinsville Food Pantry! Where are the readers who support 3 Little Birds 4 Life, St. John's Community Care, Miner's Theatre, Lewis & Clark Habitat for Humanity ReStore, and all the other great nonprofits we have in the area? These are just the ones that have pages to tag.
