Collins Fire Department Personnel continue to fight a Large Commercial Structure Fire at the Don’s Farm Store, located off Hwy. 49 North in Collins.

Units were dispatched to the call at 9:06pm and upon arrival reported heavy smoke and flames showing throughout approximately 3/4 of the structure, with fire in the store & warehouse areas of the building.
CFD units were initially assisted by personnel from both Mt. Olive VFD & Seminary VFD.
Also providing assistance were Collins Police Dept., Collins Electrical Dept. & Covington County EMS.

CFD crews continue suppression efforts, amid the dangerous and adverse weather conditions. Heavy winds and the extremely low temperatures have hindered efforts of personnel throughout the operations. Heavy equipment will be required to be brought in later this morning after daylight to allow for the safe and full extinguishment of the fire, given the compromised structural integrity of the building due to the extent of the fire.

One Firefighter did sustain injury and was initially treated on scene by CCH Ambulance personnel, and will receive further treatment at CCH E.R.
