Bouncing back and forth between all these states I stopped in over at my buddy’s place . Ryan showed me a buck he had on camera that was intriguing to me! & I decided to set out after him. After climbing up our tree I looked over & there he is, skirting by us at 30 yards. I wasn’t prepared for him to be there so quick. I didn’t even have my bow up yet. The rest of the evening was slow & so was the hunting the next day.
Jake went home for Pa rifle opener & I headed to northern Pa to my spot. Big mistake as my hunting area was getting over 3ft of snow. I quickly turned back to Ryan’s place in Ohio. Coming up with a game plan Ryan & I deployed a few of my cameras and quickly located the buck over 1000 yards from my first encounter with him..
Sunday morning the buck passed by a camera in the daylight heading into a thicket. Feeling confident the buck would pass by that area again I snuck into the thicket around 1 PM & climbed in a giant pine tree. I had about 15 different buck pass by me coming out of that thicket heading to food sources. Just before 5, I see him. He’s working his way cautiously in my direction. He catches a glimpse of a doe behind me and here he comes quickly. He presented me with a 8 yard shot & ran about 60 where I was able to watch him go down.
Can’t thank Ryan enough for another opportunity to come hunt with him. Always a great time & great hunting. Four years in row I’ve tagged my Ohio buck at his place 🤙
