Me vs my masseuse… guess who won? Technically.. me at least in a few days. Before postpartum, I experienced chronic depression and anxiety. I’ve been through a lot of trauma and abuse as a kid, and I carry it in my shoulders, neck, and back. If you’ve been following me for a while, you know how much I’ve struggled this past year with postpartum depression, anxiety, and rage. Gratefully I feel like I’m coming out on the other end mentally but I feel like my body is definitely stuck in the ether of postpartum. When Missy asked if if she can do gua sha, I nearly cried because it’s truly what I have been needing! My grandma used to do this for me all the time growing up when I was sick or needed to pick me up! Gua sha is an East Asian healing technique. A trained professional uses a small, smooth-edged tool to firmly stroke your skin in one direction. This can help improve blood flow and reduce inflammation. Thank YOU all for being with me on this journey to healing. Not just post birth but a lifetime of past lives! Because of your support, I am able to afford therapies for myself for the first time without financial burden lingering over my head as it has for my entire life since a teen raising my siblings and practically my parents 💜 forever grateful!

Forgot how the first month of breastfeeding is chaotic. My milk is coming in therefore my b***s are boulders and feel rock hard. The let down feels like a rush of pins and needles rushing to the ni**le. The balancing act of pumping while on demand feeds is a form of art. The horrifying let down that drenches the baby. The contractions during breastfeeding.. those are a nice surprise. All of this to say everything calms down after a month when my breast regulate. The engorgement should relax, the latch should no longer hurt and im not subjected to ni**le trauma from pads. I will say this time around i feel the bond so much more clearly now!

Whats questions do you have about EMDR? With consent from my therapist, im sharing part of mine. I wanted to work on my feelings of entrapment and loneliness that has been very present these days. The memory i started with was walking my 1yo in his red lit room in the middle of the night. Clearly you see i was shot back to my teen self super quickly. This is only five minutes of my 90 seconds. The memories i reprocessed hopped around at all different ages and walks of life! EMDR, is fu***ng hard if you allow yourself to truly let your mind guide and be okay with briefly sitting in the uncomfortable. The reward is ten fold! I personally feel one EMDR session is equivalent to 10 CBT sessions. It is a structured therapy that encourages the patient to briefly focus on the trauma memory while simultaneously experiencing bilateral stimulation (typically eye movements or butterfly tapping), which is associated with a reduction in the vividness and emotion associated with the trauma memories. EMDR therapy demonstrates that a similar sequence of events occurs with mental processes. The brain’s information processing system naturally moves toward mental health. If the system is blocked or imbalanced by the impact of a disturbing event, the emotional wound festers and can cause intense suffering. Once the block is removed, healing resumes.

When I tell you I have never seen my kids in so much fear 😭😭 here is what was shared with us after this type of accident. Obviously goes without saying please consult your doctor first! Watch Your Child Closely for 2 Hours: • Observe your child closely during the first 2 hours following the injury. • Encourage your child to lie down and rest until all symptoms have cleared. Mild headache, mild dizziness and nausea are common. • Allow your child to sleep if he wants to, but keep him nearby. • After 2 hours, awaken your child. Check that he is alert and knows who you are. Also, check that he can talk and walk normally. Diet - Start with Clear Fluids: • Offer only clear fluids to drink, in case he vomits. • Return to regular diet after 2 hours. • Exception: Babies can continue breast feeding or formula. Pain Medicine: • For pain relief, give acetaminophen every 4 hours Or ibuprofen every 6 hours as needed. (See Dosage Table.) • Exception: Avoid until 2 hours have passed from injury without any vomiting. Also, don't continue pain medicine more than 3 days without seeing your child's P*P. • Caution: Never give aspirin to children and teens. (Reason: always increases risk of bleeding.) Special Precautions For 1 Night: • Mainly, sleep in same room as your child the first night. • Reason: If a complication occurs, you will recognize it because your child will first develop a severe headache, vomiting, confusion or other change in their behavior. Optional: if you are worried, awaken your child once during the night. • Check the ability to walk and talk. (For infants, check the ability to become fully alert and move both arms and legs normally.) • After 24 hours, return to a normal routine. Expected Course: • Most head trauma only causes a scalp injury. • The swelling may take a week to resolve. • The scalp tenderness at the site of impact usually clears in 3 days. Call Back If • Severe headache or crying persists after 20 minutes of ice pack • Vomiting occurs 2 or more times • Your child becomes difficult to awaken or confused • Walking or talking becomes difficult • Headache lasts more than 24 hours • Scalp tenderness lasts more than 3 days • Your child becomes worse Soft Spot - Concerns About: • The soft spot (fontanel) is present from birth until 12 to 18 months of age. It's covered and protected by a thick layer of fibrous tissue. • Injuries near the soft spot do not cause any additional complications.

Before the flood gates of comments like “is nothing private anymore?” “Why even film this” “ew” “this is TMI” “gross” etc etc… these videos aren’t for you. I share these very real moments that millions in postpartum experience to validate the pain and chaos after birth. I share for my first time mamas/birthers who want to know the reality of the fourth trimester with no filter so they’re not blindsided by what is most likely to come. Newborn life is truly blissful.. but it doesn’t take away how hard postpartum is. The pain of birth isn’t miraculously over after the baby comes out. So for those who need a reminder, be gentle with yourself, know that this is temporary and it does get better, and oh.. take your stool softeners!

Happy Father’s Day to all 🤍
