I would like to take a minute to ask all my Facebook friends and family to think back over the last 7-8 years about how the roads here in Bradley County have deteriorated. We have large potholes that have only grown in size, chunks of roadway along the edges missing from erosion or utility work, drainage ditches that overflow from lack of maintenance, causing property damage along with multiple travel issues affecting folks going to work and school on roads that are largely over congested and undersized. The list of issues goes on, and so do your taxes that are supposed to be used to take care of and even prevent such issues. That is why we have an elected official called a Road Superintendent who is elected to properly use our taxes and effectively run the county road department. The keyword in my last sentence is EFFECTIVELY. Now, I'm not going to yank your chain and say roads were great before our last Superintendent retired, but I will say and anyone who can honestly remember would have to agree that is used to not be this bad. Since Sandra Knight was first elected our roadways and other road department infrastructure has continuously been allowed to deteriorate and the few fixes that are done are rushed often cut corners that only mask the true issues for a period of time. THAT IS WHY, I ask that you strongly consider voting for Tom Collins to be Bradley County Road Superintendent. He has decided to come out of retirement to try and help get things done and done right when it is done. He successfully ran that department for 15+ years before retiring and is our best chance to put the tax dollars for that department back to use for the people they serve, not the people they want to impress.
