be thoughtful with the process;

trust in quality over quickness;

knowledge that your masterpiece can be both perfect and flawed;

ideas are not stolen because no one can do them exactly like you can, so do you — your way;

inspiration comes first, the audience comes last;

let your inspiration be your lead and follow it where it takes you.

With all of that said (and note to self), don’t let perfectionism get in the way of creating. An imperfect version is better than no version. Now is the perfect time to begin… 🫶 AV.

Crushing news. Jim Donovan is a Cleveland icon and legend. I never had the pleasure of working with him during my days at Channel 3, outside of a time that he popped in as a guest on Good Company, but he was always so kind to me in the hallways during my 12 years at the tv station. Cleveland will miss his voice, his talent, and his presence. God bless Jim and his family.

Jimmy spent 39 years at WKYC as a sports and news anchor and was the radio voice of the Cleveland Browns for 25 seasons. He died after a courageous cancer battle.

I’m often asked, “WHO was your favorite celebrity interview?” I’ll always go back to this story. I go into greater detail in my book, Live Your Playlist, but this 23-second version captures the essence of the story.

I was 22 years old with little interviewing experience. Not quite confident in myself yet. I was flown to LA to interview for the film THE INSIDER. This is pre-Gladiator. He was kind and generous with his time. He recorded a game-changing message for me during our interview. I settled into a good run in tv. 10 years later I had the opportunity to tell him what it meant to me (with Denzel in the room!).

I’ve been a fan of Russell Crowe and his work ever since! And I take the meaning of that moment with me even now as I’ve moved past tv and owning my video production company .

The takeaway: One kind gesture can make a huge impact on someone’s confidence. Be good to people. Help others. Use kind words. Words have impact. Lead with a good heart. ❤️
