This year marks the final year of the legendary battle of the bands competition!
The three performance rounds will take place February 3, 10 and 17 at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, all leading up to The Final Exam on Saturday, March 2, where the 2024 “Best Band in The Land” will be awarded by music and entertainment industry judges.

Live Nation is proud to announce the 24th Annual Tri-C® High School Rock Off powered by PNC will once again take place at the legendary Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
The annual battle of the high school bands and musicians is presented by Live Nation, Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C), PNC, Scene Magazine, Fox 8, 96.5 KISS FM, 100.7 WMMS and iHeart Media. All High School Rock Off tickets will include admission to the Rock Hall and access to its newest exhibits, including Part of the Machine: Rock & Pinball, an interactive exhibit showcasing rock-themed playable pinball machines, and Stay Tuned: Rock on TV, a multi-floor, multimedia exhibition honoring the role television played in music.
This year’s participating sponsors include Jim Stewart Recording, House of Blues Cleveland, Beachland Ballroom and Tavern, The Grog Shop and more!
“High School Rock Off is a great showcase for these talented young artists,” says Greg Harris, president and CEO of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. “In addition to being an incredibly fun experience, select participants also perform at Hall of Fame events and for some, Rock Off has been their launchpad to successful music careers.”
High school seniors participating in the Rock Off will have the opportunity to apply for three PNC scholarships to study in Tri-C Creative Arts programs. PNC Bank will help high school seniors launch their careers in music by providing scholarships of up to $2,000 to enroll at Tri-C.
“We were impressed by the level of talent and drive that the participants showed last year, and we expect to be blown away again at the upcoming Rock Off,” said Paul Clark, PNC Regional President for Cleveland. “We hope these scholarships will encourage participants to harness their musical gifts to prepare for their future.”
“Working with Live Nation and the Rock Hall creates an unparalleled opportunity for Tri-C to help students jumpstart careers in music performance, marketing, promotion and recording technology,” said David Kennedy, Director of Tri-C’s Recording Arts and Technology program. “We help focus their passion and provide high-tech training, industry connections and transfer opportunities to some of the top music universities in the world. Rock Off alumni work in all facets of the music industry such as recording studios, concert halls and arenas, equipment manufacturing, broadcasting, marketing, promotion, touring and with companies like House of Blues, Live Nation and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Tri-C students have an amazing opportunity to connect with artists and professionals in meaningful and productive ways as a result of these partnerships.”
Continuing their support of these young bands are four of the most influential music clubs in Ohio. All of the participating bands will have access to the bookers and marketing directors at House of Blues Cleveland, The Beachland Ballroom, The Grog Shop and Musica! This “incubator relationship” through Live Nation and The Rock Hall will give your band the opportunity to book showcases or have a CD Release party with Rock Off “Alumni Bands” or current Rock Off bands playing in and around Northeast Ohio. All of these clubs will be providing judges to evaluate Rock Off bands. This will provide you and your band tremendous feedback on your performance and possible guidance as you further on your musical journey.
WHAT YOU CAN WIN
The winning band will receive $1,000 cash and $250 for their high school music program. Second place will receive $250 cash and $100 for their high school music program and third place will receive $100 cash.
The winning band will also receive the opportunity to perform at format appropriate Live Nation or House of Blues Cleveland concert as an opening act and at The Rock Hall’s annual Summer in the City program on the new Rock Hall Plaza Stage.
TICKET INFORMATION
Rock Off tickets will be available to purchase for $10.00 from the participating Rock Off performers after the band selection process in December. The concerts at the Rock Hall are open to all ages and your ticket to the Rock Off includes admission to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum and its exhibits on performance days. The Rock Hall hours will coincide with the Rock Off performance times!
