“They were to be my worldly possessions for the next eight Thanksgivings, the next eight Christmases and the next eight New Year’s,” he said of his stint at the infamous "Hanoi Hilton."

We’re celebrating quite the milestone over here! 🥳

Today marks 32 years that 911 Director Sherri Maxfield has served with Bradley County 911. 😲 Working that many years in emergency services is an amazing achievement. This type of work can take a toll not only on the employee, but also their family. It requires commitment and sacrifice. Not everyone is cut out for it, but for some it’s truly a calling. It becomes their passion, life’s purpose, and a rewarding career.

Director Maxfield - Thank you for setting this example of dedication and service for us. We truly appreciate all that you do for the Center and our community. Happy work anniversary and CONGRATULATIONS! 👏🎉

Christine Gutierrez was minding her own business and looking over a selection of roofing shingles at Home Depot on Paul Huff Parkway on June 20 when she felt several sharp punches to the back of her head.

After losing consciousness and collapsing to the floor, she awakened to find the perpetrator on top of her and continuing his assault.

Gutierrez, a trans woman, told the Cleveland Daily Banner on Friday the alleged attack was a hate crime motivated by her appearance.

Andrea Boddeker is often described by her friends as “generous to a fault, a loyal friend, and a person who will cook a meal for someone in need at the drop of a hat,” according to fellow Rotary Club of Cleveland member Tanya Mazzolini.

“Fun fact,” Mazzolini added. “She is mechanically inclined and is the first to pick up a tool to fix something. It might be an appliance, solving a plumbing issue, doing some carpentry, or taking on a project like building a fence around a backyard.”

Those are a few of the reasons Boddeker was named “Rotarian of the Year” during the club’s meeting on Tuesday.

Baby, it’s hot inside (Sequoyah Nuclear Plant’s turbine building)!

That’s because the Tennessee Valley Authority’s two nuclear reactors at Sequoyah each generate more than 1,160 megawatts of electricity to produce steam that spins turbines inside the facility’s cavernous turbine room.

Inside, temperatures hover around 110 degrees as the superheated steam makes its way through a series of pipes to the facility's massive turbines.
