On this very night in 1976 KISS blew up our TV on the Paul Lynde Halloween Special. (The Paul Lynde Halloween Special featured guest stars Margaret Hamilton in her first reprisal of her role as the Wicked Witch of the West from The Wizard of Oz. Also guest starring are Billie Hayes as Witchiepoo from H.R. Pufnstuf, Tim Conway, Roz Kelly, Florence Henderson, rock band KISS, Billy Barty as Gallows the Butler, Betty White and, in an unbilled surprise appearance, Donny and Marie Osmond.)

48 years ago today, 10/19/1976, KISS recorded their performance for The Paul Lynde Halloween Special which aired on ABC-TV on 10/29/1976.

This was KISS' first "prime time" national TV appearance.
KISS performed 3 songs on the show "Detroit Rock City", "Beth", and "King Of The Nighttime World".

Today in 1987 KISS debuted at #94 with Crazy Crazy Nights on Billboard's top 100. It would peak at #65. A music video was directed by Jean Pellerin and Doug Freel. It was filmed on August 8, 1987, at the Olympic Auditorium in Los Angeles, CA. The video shows the band performing on a giant stage in front of a crowd.

The Kiss fans that were present that day got free tickets through the radio station KNAC. During the filming, the fans would party between takes to maintain the energy of the setting and event. The band also gave the audience a mini concert where they played some of their singles like "Cold Gin", "Lick It Up", "Detroit Rock City", and Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love".
