I finally got the chance to present Rick Christyson with his "Best Guitar Player - 2021" Zabby Award at a gig with his band "Rockport" at the Burntwood Grill in Rocky River tonight. Rick treated us to one of his signature leads shortly thereafter.

Mick Butter is on his way to Cleveland to re-open the Banana North Studio. The Winter sessions in Florida resulted in 9 new songs for an upcoming Butterfield 8 release. Visitors to Banana South this year included a Mab Zab co-founder, Mick's favorite daughter and The Big Banana herself!

The newest Banana Record (our 19th release) is now out and available on all streaming services. "One Hand Clapping" is the second album by Banana artist Paul Nickels. This collection of 14 tunes is a work of love for Paul, and contains songs by both himself, and friends that he has worked with closely over the last few decades. Support independent music. Check this out! This is a gift from longtime Banana Records enthusiast, Peggy Ryel. This is a copy of the first ever Banana 12" record, "Just Listen" by Butterfield 8 (1985). Above the label is the skyline of Cleveland! This is now proudly displayed at the Banana Records South Studios. Thanks Peggy!

The latest album from Butterfield 8, "Broken People", was released today. This is the 3rd album from Jim and his friends in the last two years. Rumor has it that the "band" is going to get together to promote this new release. We will keep you posted.

In the meantime, the 10 tracks are available on many streaming services right now, with the balance of the services set to come on line by the weekend. Better late than never. The Lakewood Observer reviewed Butterfield 8's recent (October '22) release this week. Pretty good review, and the reviewer went to the trouble of critiquing all 11 songs. What surprised us most though, was the review of the other album (in the same article) that states that the artist (Fantastic Johnny) is the world's number one Butterfield 8 fan. I'd like to meet this man.

Banana Records is proud to announce the FIRST EVER release by long-time singer, songwriter, musician and multiple Zabby Award winner Les Vincent. Les Vincent (aka Tom Richissin) was recently in Cleveland to put the finishing touches on his upcoming Banana release. Here is seen here working with fellow Banana recording artist Bob Burford on some backing vocals that Bob is providing. The 3-person pose shows the three main contributors to the project, Producer Paul Nickels, Les and Banana President Jim Butterfield. The other shot shows Paul giving Les some sage recording advice. Reportedly, Paul was urging Les on by exclaiming "LETS ROCK!"

The Banana Records South Recording Studio has been relocated within the massive BRS complex. The new room provides better acoustics and has an adjacent Suite and Green Room for visiting artists.

Pictured here are a few of the Zabbie Awards that will be presented tomorrow evening at the Golden Anniversary Mab Zab Extravaganza and Awards Ceremony. Because the ceremony is being held in Florida for only the second time, they have a Florida theme of golden golf balls teed up on real Florida turf.

It appears that The Big Banana traveled down to Florida a week before the Extravaganza so he could get some golf in before the big day. Several paparazzi approached him on the golf course, and he was not happy. After politely asking that no photos be taken, he was forced to climb the course fence in order to make his escape.
