Greetings, everyone! Tampa Bay Screams' AndyL. in collaboration with collector/convention organizer Ed Tucker, producer Michelle LaRose, and Dr Paul Bearer himself as portrayed by Richard Koon, have formed The Dr. Paul Bearer Society.

The Dr. Paul Bearer Society is an all-new organization dedicated to honoring horror host Dr. Paul Bearer and his enduring legacy, uniting fans who grew up watching Creature Feature and Fright Theatre in the 1970's, '80s, and '90s, while inspiring and expanding the fandom for new generations with Dr. Paul Bearer's new weekly show on NOST - The Nostalgia Network - Saturdays at 9PM ET with an encore show Sundays at 2AM. We will also be honoring other Horror Hosts, such as our good friends Count Gore De Vol and Malvolia: the Queen of Screams.

We invite ALL horror and cult movie fans to like/follow our all-new The Dr. Paul Bearer Society page. 🧛‍♂️TUNE-IN ALERT!🩸Creature Feature with Dr Paul Bearer is on The Nostalgia Network every Saturday at 9PM ET, with a Sunday 2AM encore! This weekend's horror movie is William Campbell in TRACK OF THE VAMPIRE, also starring Sid Haig, Karl Schanzer ("Spider Baby"), and Jonathan Haze ("Little Shop of Horrors"). This film was originally know as BLOOD BATH (1963/1966), a movie that Tampa Bay Screams' AndyL. fondly remembers from the original Creature Feature and is a fright favorite.
It is a thriller first produced as "Operation Ticijan" (1963) and then turned into a horror film by shooting additional scenes directed by Jack Hill, under directives by Roger Corman. It was released as BLOOD BATH in 1966 to drive-in's and hardtops and then more scenes were added to bump up the run time for broadcast TV - thus, TRACK OF THE VAMPIRE (TV title). However, Creature Feature with Dr. Paul Bearer from the '70s/'80s era remember this movie as BLOOD BATH, as that's what it was titled in the TV listings. Possibly because BLOOD BATH sounded gorier. Creature Feature did the same thing with the grindhouse classic "Horror High" which was shown on Creature Feature as "Twisted Brain" (very gory for TV at the time, as was "Horror Hospital"!).
Enjoy this arthouse horror film that has a confusing but rich history with lots of great players involved.
So, set your DVR's on Sling or watch Creature Feature on broadcast TV if The Nostalgia Network is in your market.

We received news that guitarist Brian James, of The Damned and Lords of the New Church, has died. James was an original member of The Damned, the first Punk group, and was a songwriter. Until the time of James' death, all four (4) original members of The Damned were all alive; survivors now include Dave Vanian, Captain Sensible, and Rat Scabies. After leaving The Damned, James joined the storied Goth-Post Punk band Lords of the New Church with fellow Punk pioneer Stiv Bators. The Damned are the true GothFathers and the greatest horror-Punk-rock band ever - pioneers who quaked the universe in 1976. After James departed the band early, The Damned went on to record "Dead Beat Dance" on the famous "The Return of the Living Dead" soundtrack (1984) and appeared on the British TV show "The Young Ones" performing "Nasty" ("Catch, catch the horror taxi, I fell in love with a Video Nasty!) also in 1984, preceding their 1985 album "Phantasmagoria."

Horror filmmaker Richard Burgin at Tampa Bay Screams horror con - this is from our January 19th, 2025 show at the OCC Road House in Clearwater! Richard was representing his feature horror film "FANG" on Blu-Ray and DVD, plus his artwork. Inset photo you can see fellow Dealer's Dungeon Vendor Arcana Necronomicus (one of the great Tampa Bay metal bands!) proudly holding a Blu-Ray of "Fang"!

"A Nightmare on Elm Street" opened 40 years ago this week in the Tampa Bay area! March of 1985. Plus, sexy sizzlers: "H.O.T.S.", "Girls are for Loving", "Too Hot to Handle", and "Certain Fury" starring Tatum O'Neal and Irene Cara at Tampa Bay area drive-in's. In the last years of her life Irene Cara lived in Largo, Florida.

We received news that actor/singer David Roger Johansen died at age 75. He was the last surviving member of original lineup of the New York Dolls and was the frontman. Horror fans will remember his from "Scrooged" and "Tales from the Darkside: The Movie." The video clip (link below) is of Johansen and Brian Koonin of The Dolls in a musical tribute to Arthur "Killer" Kane, an original Doll.

We received news that Ernie Gygax has passed away, the son of famed Dungeons & Dragons creator Gary Gygax. Friends say Ernie was the best DM out there. He also created the first Magic-User character, named Tenser. You can tell Ernie was the real deal. Miss the early TSR days of Gamma World, D&D, Dungeon!, and more. God Bless and may Ernie Gygax's memory be eternal.

We were very sorry to hear about the passing of actor Gene Hackman, who crossed many generations and was among cinema's great talents. He co-starred with Tampa Bay Screams' special celebrity guest Jack O'Halloran in "Superman" (1978), "Superman II" (1980), and before those films they were in "March or Die" together in 1977. The French Connection, Young Frankenstein, The Unforgiven, The Poseidon Adventure, The Conversation, Night Moves, Prime Cut - so many great Gene Hackman films. God Bless and may his memory be eternal.
