Breaking news: Eagle parents at NCTC are back at it with not one... not two... but THREE eggs!

A third egg has landed at the National Conservation Training Center’s bald eagle nest. Laid on February 16 at 6:30 PM, this egg joins its siblings, who arrived on February 10 and February 13. If all goes well, we could see hatching in mid-March.

Both eagle parents are taking turns incubating the eggs, and yes, we are watching their every move like it’s a reality TV show. The female does most of the nighttime incubating because she’s bigger and better at keeping those eggs warm. You might also catch them carefully turning their eggs with their beaks every hour or so. No, it’s not helicopter parenting, it’s science.

If you’ve been following along, you know last year was… dramatic (iykyk). Nature, in all its brutal, unscripted glory, reminded us that wildlife is wild. Follow the NCTC page for eagle cam updates and check out the comments to discover how you can watch and follow along as these two eagles raise their young.
