📢 TOGETHER WE STAND, DIVIDED WE FALL 📢
💔 A loved one went into the hospital for a treatable condition but never came home.
💔 You were shut out, denied access, and kept from advocating for their care.
💔 Medical records didn’t match what the hospital told you.
💔 A sudden change in diagnosis that didn’t make sense.
💔 A rushed decision about life support—without your consent.
Andy’s story is heartbreaking—but it’s not unique.
📢 If any of this sounds familiar to something your family endured, message me.
📢 Your story deserves to be heard. You are not alone.
🚨 The more voices we gather, the harder it will be for them to hide the truth. 🚨

📢 DOES THIS SOUND FAMILIAR? 📢
Imagine waking up to a nightmare where your loved one enters a hospital for a treatable condition—only to never come out alive. Imagine being denied access to your loved one, watching helplessly as the hospital made life-altering decisions without your consent.
This is Andy Hodge’s story. A father, brother, and son who fought until the very end—while the hospital changed the narrative, covered their mistakes, and ultimately cashed in on his suffering.

A Journey That Started With a Leg Injury
🔹 August 14, 2020 – The Work Injury That Changed Everything
Andy suffered a severe workplace accident, breaking both long bones in his lower left leg and crushing his ankle. He underwent multiple surgeries performed by Dr. David Seligson, a top orthopedic specialist at UofL.
📌 October 9, 2020 – Screws began protruding from his leg.
📌 December 8, 2020 – A third surgery was performed to fix the hardware, involving more bone reaming, new screws, and plates.
🔹 From November 2020 through early 2021, Andy repeatedly told doctors that pain was moving up the back of his leg.
💬 He knew something wasn’t right. He asked for help.

Three ER Visits – Three Denied Requests for a Doppler Scan
🔹 January 5, 2021 – First ER Visit (Twin Lakes)
✔️ Andy went to Twin Lakes ER complaining of severe leg pain and shortness of breath.
✔️ Requested a Doppler ultrasound to check for a blood clot—DENIED.
✔️ Sent home with 800mg ibuprofen.
🔹 January 16, 2021 – Second ER Visit (UofL ER)
✔️ Pain worsening—radiating up the back of his leg.
✔️ Again requested a Doppler. Again DENIED.
🔹 February 10, 2021 – Admitted to Twin Lakes Hospital
✔️ Andy was no longer just an ER patient—he was admitted as an inpatient.
✔️ Diagnosed with sepsis secondary to pneumonia.
✔️ Labs showed elevated D-dimer (blood clot risk) and high LDH (tissue damage).
💬 Andy texted Ellie:
"They are not worried about my leg, they are worried about saving my life."
But how do you save someone’s life if you ignore the cause of their condition?
✔️ A bronchoscopy was scheduled at Norton’s for February 15, 2021.
✔️ Andy’s transfer was planned and pre-approved.
Then, everything changed.
---
The Mysterious Transfer – How Did a Pre-Planned Transfer Become an “Emergency”?
🔹 February 17, 2021 – Instead of Norton’s, Andy is suddenly sent to Owensboro Health.
✔️ Andy was told, "Go to Owensboro or you will die."
✔️ His planned transfer was rerouted—without explanation.
✔️ Instead of continuing his planned treatment, everything changed.
Owensboro Health took over Andy’s care, and immediately:
➡️ His antibiotics were stopped.
➡️ His prior treatment plan was abandoned.
➡️ His leg, which had been causing problems for months, was ignored.
This wasn’t a medical transfer—it was a decision to take control over his care.

Ignored Symptoms – A Family Fighting to Be Heard
🔹 February 18-23, 2021 – Ellie Begs for a Doppler Scan
✔️ Andy’s sister, Ellie, repeatedly asked the doctors to check his leg.
✔️ She was ignored.
✔️ She threatened legal action just to get a Doppler ordered.
🔹 Dr. Bilal Finally Acknowledges the Clot
✔️ After finally performing the Doppler scan, Dr. Bilal admits there is a blood clot in Andy’s leg.
✔️ But instead of treating it, they do nothing.
💔 They had the answer. They ignored it.

A Silent Shift – Organ Procurement Discussions Begin
🔹 February 23, 2021 – KODA Appears at Andy’s Bedside
✔️ KODA (Kentucky Organ Donor Affiliates) was already involved.
✔️ But Andy was NOT a registered organ donor.
💬 Why was organ donation being discussed before his treatment was even finished?
🔹 Andy Was Given Nimbex – A Drug That Mimics Brain Death
✔️ The same day KODA was in his room, he was given Nimbex, a paralytic drug.
✔️ If improperly used, this drug can make a patient appear brain-dead.
🚨 Did they make a decision about Andy before his family even knew? 🚨
---
The Family’s Final Goodbye
🔹 February 27, 2021 – The 14-Hour Video Call
✔️ Andy’s family finally gets to see him via video.
✔️ He responds to voices. His BP rises when family talks. His fingers and leg move.
✔️ Then, the call is cut off. The hospital says it’s a "liability."
🔹 March 1, 2021 – Ethics Committee Overrides the Family
✔️ At noon, Ellie tells the hospital that Dr. Seligson is coming the next morning.
✔️ By 5:30 PM, an ethics committee changes Andy’s code status from Full Code to DNR—without consent.
🔹 March 2, 2021 – Andy Is Gone
✔️ Ventilator removed.
✔️ No EEG. No apnea test. No legal brain death confirmation.
✔️ The nurse listed as shift supervisor, Paula Brasher RN, does not exist.
💔 He was gone. And they covered their tracks.
---
The Final Cover-Up
✔️ His death certificate doesn’t check “communicable disease.”
✔️ His lab work never supported the diagnosis they gave.
✔️ His medical records contradict themselves over and over again.
Andy’s real medical crisis—his leg, the clotting, the sepsis—was ignored.
And the family was shut out, left to watch from a distance, unable to save him.
