DIFT Adjunct Professor John Addino recognized as one of three
to receive the 2024 Adjunct Faculty Teaching Award. We cannot think of a person more dedicated and part of the Xavier fabric than John Addino. John graduated from Xavier in 1997. He worked as the TV Studio Manager from 2001-2007 and started as an adjunct professor the school year of 2001-2002. He has not missed teaching a semester and often teaches two courses while working full time with a wife and three kids. He loves the students and loves teaching them the skills of editing and television graphics. He is extremely flexible and will shift his course nights if another adjunct needs to shift. He also will teach more than one class if needed. John has been walking through the doors of the Film and TV Center since he was a student starting 37 years ago.

In 2007 John took a position with Kroger Television and is currently Senior Production Manager, Kroger Studios. As a Kroger TV employee he has mentored students, provided space for student interns, and helped to hire Xavier graduates over the years. He has continued to teach as an Adjunct even after moving on to Kroger. He cares deeply for our students, is great about submitting grades and is in contact about any students who might be struggling. He goes far and above what an adjunct professor is required to do! Students continuously give John outstanding evaluations and speak highly of him at all the DIFT events. We hear his praises constantly while advising students.
John offers ideas, suggests curriculum changes with some of the post-production courses and works proficiently to stay up to date with the rapidly changing technology of all the courses he teaches. If a student needs John, they are encouraged to txt him, he even helps them after they graduate. He meets with students before class and will stay after class if they need him. He has even been willing to meet a student on a weekend. John is dedicated to say the least!

Beyond being an adjunct John is a true friend of the department, he supports the growth and direction of the program. He makes himself available to discuss program vision, students’ successes, and informs appropriately during the times they need help. He makes himself available to us all. John helped to outline/streamline the latest Advance Visual Effects course. He met with Jonathan Marasco who teaches the class to make sure what he is teaching works to build to the more advance class. John is beyond dedicated to the students, faculty, and administrators. He is a man for others and believes in the values of the Jesuit institution called Xavier University! His contribution and teaching (his ability to stay current) adds to the success of our students and program. John is beyond deserving of Adjunct Faculty Teaching Award. Congratulations John!

Huge win by Kelli Griffith with her 2023 DIFT Senior Film at the BEA Festival for Media Arts this past week. Kelli took 2nd place in one of the largest categories in the festival which was narrative film! Congratulations you made a beautiful and important film!
