Come hang at the studio! Announcing some open studio mornings, an informal riso basics overview (2 dates) and an opportunity to sign up for cheap riso printing 30-minute slots ~~

Open Studio: just a time to come visit, browse, chat, and connect / Riso Basics: I’ll talk for a little while, share handouts, and then will answer any questions you all have about prepping artwork, riso print tips, publishing zines etc. No cost, just informal information sharing / 30-min Riso Print Slots: this is for anyone with artwork or flyers they want riso printed, if you have a pretty good handle on how to prep black and white print layers, and if you can bring your artwork ready to go! I will be there to help you use the machine. Cheaper if you bring your own paper.

It’s been a while, and sometimes social media just doesn’t feel like the place to be. But then I remember it’s the main thread of connection that we have to so many in our community, people that matter so much to us and continue to support us! I just wanted to post an update and let you know I’m in the studio, designing, printing, contemplating, reflecting, and ideating, trying to continue day in and day out, being my creative self, always thinking through my role and how I can be of service. I’ve been moving slowly through a lot of projects that have piled up over the past year… So unless you are a regular collaborator/ client, we won’t be taking on any new projects until February of next year.

My goal this year is to wrap up many many things that have fallen into the “finish later” bucket like binding the ends of editions, re-printing and re-collating mistakes from past editions, photographing projects, sending out one final shipment for subscribers, and completing one very amazing book with and that will be the most ambitious project we’ve produced yet. Keep an eye out for that to release by early next year!

It has felt so important and so healing to finish the things that I’ve started and take stock of it all. We (Eric and I) love being your community printer and being a part of your creative projects.

Some ideas that have come from slowing down:
— sharing my vintage book collection however I can and in ways that get people excited about books, their ideas, and their physicality
— opening up the studio on weekends for people who want to commune, learn more about print/ print design, or peruse our archive of printed matter

Our most recent Cereal Box publication by Katie Baker / “Lacuna” is an illustrated short story about self-inflicted stigmata, creating evidence of invisible experiences. We had such a fun release event for this book earlier this year at the Boxelder Community Room in Northside (Cincinnati) and copies are still available! Riso-printed and hand-bound in an edition of 200, with interior drawings in black and cover in bright red.

Announcing Tidelines Winter 2024 (issue #20!) ~~ Green Green Rocky Road ~~ titled after one of my favorite traditional / schoolyard songs, apparently heard from poet Bob Kaufman in greenwich village, which became the recorded song now made famous by Dave Van Ronk and other musicians from that folk generation. Tell me who do ya love? Help us make this a special 20th issue! Published in partnership wjth
