The best part of operating American Video is talking to people and finding out about the memories that they bring in on film or tape. One of our friendly patrons had an amazing story of his tiny Kentucky Hall High School almost winning the state baseball championship in a story very similar to the famous "Hoosiers" story of Milan High School. American Video would like to let you know that VHS tape does not last forever. Over the past year I have seen more and more VHS tapes coming in that will no longer play, seems like it has been wedding videos brought in from the mid to late 1980s. VHS (and other tape stocks) have a very thin layer of lubrication on the tape that allow it to move on and off the spools easily. Over time, this lubrication wears away due to age, storage environment, and lack of use. You might put a tape in the VCR and hear a squeal noise and the VCR shuts off after a couple seconds of attempted playback.

Unfortunately there is no cure for this situation and the tapes become useless. Avoid losing your precious video memories by having them converted to a digital format such as DVD or even flash drive.

Feel free to give us a call to discuss saving all your video memories to a format which will last you a lifetime, digital media.
