Thanks 🙏 to everyone who is following Lenny’s journey.
As a mother who works in the gymnastics community I have decided to spearhead a passion project for Lenny and other neurodivergent kiddos in the community. Stay tuned. I’m getting training and appreciate any help in the cincinnati community when I launch. Let’s call it “Betsy Bootcamp All Abilities Edition for now!” Ps thanks Joy (seen here coaching Lenny and Sigourney from All-In who are a huge part of my journey!)

What if you had no words? If you couldn’t speak?

Or Say “I’m hungry” I’m tired”. “ I feel ________”. “I love you “

Being non verbal doesn’t mean non- vocal. Our home is loud, and although Lenny’s vocabulary is non existent most of the time words aren’t needed. A simple look says it all.
I won’t lie though. I pray one day we wake up and he will be able to say “mom, hi, I’m in here and I love you. “

Until then we just speak with our eyes.

Lenny’s had a great Xmas break so far! Trip to Chicago , great time opening gifts and now on to visiting grandma and grandpa. Lenny wishes everyone a Merry Christmas!!!🎁🎄

Because who doesn’t love medical glove 🎈 balloons? Taking two kids with developmental “specialities” to the “developmental specialties” DR. Can be a handful. Lots of questions, filling out questionnaires, discussing medical options, these sessions come only yearly but are essential to reevaluate where your children are in their development. Not a ton of answers yet but the boys are still young and lots of growing to do!

Going antiquing with Lenny requires sitting on every chair we pass. These were just THREE of about 10 he cozied up to. It’s just his thing!!!

Lenny had a fun weekend and has been up since 3 am ready and rearing to go to school. We don’t sleep much over here but we are excited about Monday! Happy Monday!!

Today was Lenny’s first day of 5th grade. His teacher came out after and said “it was a good day and we also had some challenges- BUT your boy is wicked smart. “

We will take it!!! Let’s go!

God, Now I know why

I didn’t know why….I ran all those miles.

I didn’t know why. I lifted all those weights.

I didn’t know why. I ate all that good food.

I didn’t know why I spent years building and strengthening my body

I didn’t know why I prioritized the health of my body before anything else.

Now I know why-

I know it was because I may have to sprint after my child running into the street.

I know it was because I would have to lift a growing, 90 pound child into and out of a car, or bed.

I know it was to give me the endurance to chase, lift, leap and protect my child.

I know it was to give me the physical and mental strength to keep a strong boy and others out of harms way.

God now I know why I did all that work.

It was to prepare me for this child that has challenged me more than any weight, 8 mile run, plyometric jump or sprint.

You work in mysterious ways but
Your plan is understood.

Now I know why.

It's true, we withrdraw into our own little bubble. If you haven't already started to follow me on my Blog, I would love it if you did. I speak a lot about being strong as a special needs mom, but also about staying strong in faith, being courageous and inspiring others to do the same. Link is in the post :) Thanks to everyone who loves Lenny and Ayden. We are blessed.
