20,787 players have played in a Major League Baseball game.

Only SIX of them can say they played with two of their brothers on the same team 👀

How common are brothers making it to the big leagues?

455 have actually made it across history.

Of those, nearly one hundred sets played together as teammates and only twenty were comprised of three or more brothers.

Of those twenty, only TWO groups of three brothers have ever played together on the same team.

Could it happen again?

Well, possibly.

Cincinnati Reds’ second baseman Matt McLain, 25, is one of the most exciting young players in all of baseball and has two talented, younger brothers currently making their way to the major league level.

Sean McLain, 23, is in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization and was teammates with Matt in the 2024 Arizona Fall League, in college, and in high-school.

Nick McLain, 22, was drafted last year in the third round by the Chicago White Sox.

Could the McLain brothers become just the third trio in all of MLB history to play together?

Their respective ages certainly allows for it, however, with each team having control for the next 4-6 seasons, MLB history would have to be purposefully arranged for by one of the three team’s front office.

Matt McLain had an absolute breakout debut season in 2023 and should be off-limits for trades by the Reds. So Cincinnati would have to trade for the younger McLains to make it happen.

Would they do it? If the deal made sense, of course. But I personally think it would be beyond awesome.

Cincinnati has a uniquely rich history of family ties in a Reds uniform, and all we can do as a fanbase is to try and manifest it by declaring that we want the McLains, together, at Great American Ballpark.

So with that being said, if you’re someone that can let Nick Krall know, let em know!

AYO!! Ty Steph has locked in a salary of $4.925 for the 2025 season with your Cincinnati Reds 🔥

A lot of us were hoping the Reds were working on an extension with our QB1 but we’re at least glad arbitration wasn’t necessary and we’re definitely happy to see the well-deserved pay bump for our catcher 💪

BREAKING: Gavin Lux traded to the Cincinnati Reds by the Los Angeles Dodgers. The former first round pick can play left field, shortstop, or second base.

With 2.1 WAR in 2024, the 27-year-old bats left handed and has averaged 3.0 WAR per 162 games in his career thus far.

The Reds have traded Mike Sirota and a competitive balance Round A pick, which is around No. 37.
