Due to numerous requests for information regarding the open decks competitions being held at Subsonic Frequencies Live events this summer, I've decided to share the plan online ahead of the events.

Here it is:

Technical Details:

DJs will use redkattsevens Pioneer DJ DDJ-FLX10 4-Channel Performance DJ Controller with an iMac computer. DJs can use either Rekordbox OR Serato software with this controller. Switching between platforms takes approximately 2-3 minutes, causing a loss of time during your set. DJ's should bring a flash drive (ideally high speed) with pre-formatted and analyzed files for Rekordbox or Serato.

Sign-Up Details:

Sign up is first-come, first-served, in person, between 7pm-7:30pm after admission payment. Once all five slots are filled, a waiting list will be created. Set times for the open deck competition are 7:30pm, 8pm, 8:30pm, 9pm, and 9:30pm. Each time slot is fixed at 30 minutes, no exceptions. DJs must be present for their time slot; otherwise, the next DJ on the list will be called to perform. The remaining DJs on the list are automatically added to next month's waiting list.

Voting Details:

Paid attendees can cast votes via paper ballots between 10pm-11pm. "Approval" voting will be utilized to determine the winner, with the DJ receiving the highest number of "Approval" votes winning the contest. The winner receives a $100 prize and a chance to play at a future Subsonic Frequencies Live event as a featured DJ. All participants receive a Subsonic Frequencies T-shirt. Previous or upcoming featured DJs for Subsonic Frequencies Live are not eligible to participate.

The winner will be announced at midnight!
