THIS WEATHER UPDATE IS NOT FOR OUR AREA...
Our thoughts go out to everyone in Lousiana today as Ida moves in. The national weather service is warning of unsurvivable storm surge for those who don't evacuate and the hurricane leaving parts of the area uninhabitable for weeks to months.
While hurricanes are not known to be big lightning makers you can actually see some lightning in the eye-wall on the radar map posted here. Hurricane Ida has become very well developed overnight, to the point of having an inner and outer eye wall.
Also, the ULTRA rare "extreme wind warning was just issued for parts of coastal Lousiana. Here is the current radar and also a text portion of the extreme wind warning for those of you who have never heard of it or seen the wording on one before.
