Da’Vine Joy Randolph wins Best Actress in a Supporting Role and thanks everyone for seeing her.
Da’Vine Joy Randolph won the first Oscar of her career for her role as Mary Lamb in Alexander Payne’s “The Holdovers,” a 1970s-set dramedy about a trio that’s stuck at a New England prep school over the holidays.
Randolph portrayed a boarding school cafeteria manager dealing with grief and loss.
She took home the trophy for best supporting actress on her first nomination. But in her acceptance speech, she revealed that she didn’t always see herself becoming an actor. “I don’t think I was supposed to be doing this for my career,” said Randolph, who is a trained opera singer but had no dreams of being an actor growing up. Her mother convinced her to take an acting class.
“I thank my mother for doing that. I thank all the people who have been there for me, ushered me and guided me. I’m so grateful to all you beautiful people out there.” She also thanked her publicist.
She tearfully reflected on her path in Hollywood before landing on the biggest stage in show business. “I always wanted to be different, but now I realize that I just need to be myself,” she said. “Thank you for seeing me.”
In the Oscar race, Randolph was nominated against Emily Blunt in “Oppenheimer,” Danielle Brooks in “The Color Purple,” America Ferrera in “Barbie” and Jodie Foster in “Nyad.”

Cillian Murphy wins the Academy Award for Best Actor!!!
The 47-year-old gave a captivating performance in Oppenheimer.
Murphy has the title role in the film, a biopic of pioneering atomic-weapons scientist J Robert Oppenheimer written and directed by Christopher Nolan. The film centers on Oppenheimer as he grapples with the need to create an atomic weapon to counteract the German threat in World War II and the effects of unearthing the calamitous weapon.
His first Academy Award nomination and win, Murphy took home the coveted prize after having already won a Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild Awards and British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards for his performance in Nolan’s war thriller.
Murphy defeated strong candidates for the Oscar, including Paul Giamatti for the “Holdovers,” Bradley Cooper for “Maestro,” Colman Domingo for “Rustin” and Jeffrey Wright for “American Fiction.” This was Murphy’s first Oscar nomination.
As he accepted the Academy Award, Murphy thanked Nolan and Emma Thomas, his producer, as well as his team and his family. He ended his speech by saying “My two boys who are sitting up there, I love you so much, and I’m a very proud Irishman standing here tonight.”
“We made a film about the man who created the atomic bomb and for better or worse we’re now living in Oppenheimer’s world now. So I’d like to dedicate this to the peacemakers everywhere.”

The 96th OSCARS – what a night! And what a night for siblings Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell as they made Oscar history by becoming the two youngest two-time winners in Academy Awards history. They both won Best Song for “What Was I Made For?,” from the “Barbie” soundtrack.
The co-writers won their first Oscar for “No Time To Die” from the James Bond film of the same name in 2021. To date, at ages 22 and 26, they have two Oscars and nine Grammys.
“I had a nightmare about this last night,” Eilish joked during her acceptance speech on Sunday. “I just didn’t think this would happen. I wasn’t expecting this. I feel so incredibly lucky and honored.”
“I’m grateful for this song and this movie and the way it made me feel,” she added, dedicating the award to the people impacted by Barbie and shouting out director Greta Gerwig. Finneas also chimed in, adding, “Thank you to our parents forever and ever and ever.”

Robert Downey Jr. stood out as it was his first Oscar in his 50-year career... with approximately 80 movie roles. His speech was quite profound...
“I’d like to thank my terrible childhood and the Academy - in that order,” Downey joked during his acceptance speech on Sunday. “I’d like to thank my veterinarian — I meant wife — Susan Downey. She found me, a “snarling rescue pet,” and loved me back to life. That’s why I am here. Thank you.

The BEAUTIFUL and TALENTED Emma Stone took home her second Oscar this weekend. She won the Best Actress category for her role as Bella Baxter in Poor Things – the Frankenstein-inspired film of a woman who is reanimated after suicide by a mad scientist (Willem Dafoe).
During her acceptance speech, the star immediately acknowledged all her fellow nominees, she took an extra moment to address Lily Gladstone, whom many had expected to win. “I share this with you,” she said to Gladstone. “I am in awe of you. And it’s been such an honor to do all this together; I hope we get to do more together.”
“And I am so deeply honored to share this with every cast member, with every crew member, with every single person who poured their love and their care and their brilliance into the making of this film. And Yorgos, thank you for the gift of a lifetime in Bella Baxter. I am forever thankful for you. Thank you for inviting all of us to be members of this team.”
Throughout the speech, Stone spoke with disbelief, acknowledged her hoarse voice, and thanked her husband, Dave McCary. Stone then went on to give an adorable shoutout to their; soon to be, 3-year old daughter. “And, most importantly, my daughter, who’s going to be three in three days and has turned our lives technicolor,” she said before reciting lyrics from her friend Taylor Swift’s song “Bigger Than the Whole Sky.” “I love you bigger than the whole sky, my girl.”
