It's almost here... 🎅
The Treasure Hunt, which began in 1933, will pick back up next Friday, Nov. 29, after Thanksgiving, thanks to The Red River Sun's partnership with Childress Downtown Historical Association.
Treasure Hunt tickets will be handed out from 3-5 p.m. in front of The Red River Sun, 226 N. Main St. Each ticket will contain a number. Winning numbers will correspond to placards, placed in participating businesses. Winning tickets can be redeemed for gifts, provided by the participating businesses. This year, over 30 businesses will offer over 50 gifts.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to win this year’s giveaway, a Hisense 50” R6 Series 4K UHD Roku Smart TV. Enter-to-win tickets can be submitted in front of Gordon’s Furniture, 222 Commerce St. NW, from 3-5 p.m. The winner will be drawn at 4:45 p.m. in front of The Red River Sun. The winner need not be present to win. The giveaway prize can be scheduled to be redeemed at a later date at The Red River Sun should the winner be absent.
Prior to the hunt, CTX Run Club will host the Treasure Trot Jingle Bell Run, a one-mile walk or run, beginning at 2:30 p.m. at Bobcat Nutrition.
“Shake off those Thanksgiving feasts with our festive one-mile walk or run,” event organizer Ashley Ramos said. “We are so excited to be a part of this wonderful event, and we hope to see you all there.”

Following the hunt, guests are encouraged to attend Christmas in the Park’s Lighting of Fair Park at dusk, which will welcome new and exciting additions.
“Once again, we are planning to make Fair Park sparkle,” Christmas in the Park President Kayla Meyer said. “Last year, many of our older displays were updated with LED lights for what we believe was our best year ever. This year, we hope to replace more of the older lights and add lights to the fencing around the inside of the park.”
“Locals might remember the sleigh pulled by reindeer on the lawn of the Harry Thaten property for many years,” Meyer added. “His family has graciously gifted this item to Christmas in the Park. We will also have the addition of a Cinderella carriage, created by John and D’Anna Oldham.”
Additionally, inside of the Fair Park City Auditorium, guests can grab a picture with Santa, as well as enjoy hot chocolate, kids’ crafts, face painting and more.
“To go along with the lighting, we have a fun festival planned in the city auditorium,” Meyer said. “It’s fun for the whole family—it’s Christmas the old-fashioned way.”
We hope to see everyone there! 🎄
