I’ve been doing these almost every week for a little over a year now and our next meet up is tomorrow!

….some weeks it is bonkers and we have like 45 people from ages 0 to 85 playing with magantiles and shouting the words of “head, shoulders, knees, and toes” and some weeks it is very chill with a dozen folks invested in every turn of the page.

Either way, I’ll be there reading stories and singing songs and providing lots of space to sit and enjoy while you chat with other grown-ups, and your kids can make some pals over coloring and collapsing each others magnatowers.

So come find us Wednesday mornings at 9:30 till about 11 AM in the sublevel of , no purchase necessary to attend and enjoy!

Yo! Not my normal kinda post, but since I snagged a bunch of new folks during my park fire info-dumping, I thought I would give you all a bit of a behind-the-scenes of where I get all my info …

At the beginning of each month, I comb through the several dozen local email newsletters (Butte County Local Food Network, Chico Art Center Chico Air Museum to name a few) in order to find events that most people wouldn’t otherwise have on their radar.

I am mostly scavenging for free or wallet friendly events, volunteer opportunities, resources & helpful info, local creators, small businesses & hidden gems.

About once a quarter I click through the fictitious business name filings to get a sneak peek at new people and places coming to town.

At least once a semester, I search through every club and community organization on both college campuses to find ways to interface the students to the population at large.

If you’re looking for more upscale/tourism/ticketed events there are some great sources of info in .chico & whereas I am trying to stick to hyping people, places and things that are accessible to the majority of the population.

Other than a few paid gigs here and there for local organizations, I do all of this for fun and for free and have been able to benefit from the warm welcomes of so many of you as I have creeped around with my iPhone, filming your events, workshops, and more!

Kicking off a new local artist series today with @breeglassstudio - as I got to spend a morning in her studio space last December while she demonstrated all the steps of creating one of her stained glass pieces. Here is a bit of a teaser trailer of the content to come. In addition to being a wealth of information about the process, she also showed me how she’d also ventured into flower pressing as a means to offer custom pieces made out of bridal bouquets and more. Will be doing a few posts rich with show and tell of her process, her creations, her studio space and where you can find her out in the community over the next two weeks! Have a piece of her art in your home, DM me a pic and I’ll feature it in my stories! 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜 Bimonthly on @discoverchico I’ll be doing several posts on a local artist, going behind the scenes to their studio spaces and showcasing all of the wonderful things they create. I’ve gotten a couple awesome opportunities to film with @breeglassstudio @celestialcreations95 & @chicoflaxtolinen and I am excited to share them with you! If you’re a local creator who would be interesting in participating in this content creation, adventure of mine hit me up in the DM’s and let me know!

I don’t know if I can find a better example of uniquely Chico experience, you think you’re just gonna go snag a copy of a key and then you meet the nicest folks in all the land, talk about the community dynamics of the town and as a bonus, these two adorable pups (Midge & Roxy) Shoutout to Valley Lock & Safe for always making an errand a bright spot in the day!
