All of our rooms come stocked with a full back line so you can just plug in and play. Plus, you earn free recording time for every hour you rehearse! Use the space to practice, write, give lessons, or to simply crank up your amp and bang on some drums without bugging the neighbors and without the expensive burden and commitment of a leased monthly room. Our state-of-the-art Audio Preservation Lab is the place for your audio restoration and audio format transfer projects. There is no format that we cannot transfer, so bring in your old open reel tapes, DATS, cassettes (standard, mini, and micro), vinyl records, and more. The time is now to have your audio transferred by the Midwest’s most trusted preservation facility! We also offer a slew of other audio services including studio rental for freelance engineers, voice over recording, podcast recording, live sound engineering, gear rentals, and in-studio karaoke recording parties for kids or adults!

Meet Meredith, my audiobook narrator!

It took time for me to warm up to the idea of making an audiobook. I knew it would be too strenuous to narrate it myself, but couldn't imagine my deeply personal words in another voice. What changed my mind was the realization that I wasn't dreaming big enough. What if I could find someone who talks the way I think – not how I sound to others, but how I sound to myself on the inside?

It took time to find such a person. One day, in a video online, I finally heard someone speaking with just the right cadence, pitch, and tone. Their voice was full of warmth and bubbling like a melody while telling the story of their autism diagnosis.

That person was Meredith Aleigha Wells – a talented actor, singer, dancer, and all-around creative powerhouse. I sent a paperback copy of "What I Mean When I Say I'm Autistic" and an invitation to audition for the audiobook, which Meredith accepted.

It took time for us to wrap up the audition process and finalize the contract, because when I first reached out, Meredith was performing on a Broadway national tour!

It took time for me to customize the manuscript for recording, since I wanted to include directions about which words to emphasize and which emotions to convey.

It took time for Meredith to narrate the book, including multiple takes of the most important parts, all recorded beautifully at Mystery Street Recording Company.

It took time for me to review the recordings and choose my favorite takes, since audio processing is not my strength.

It took time for the audio engineer to mix and master the final audiobook, patiently following my detailed notes about which recording to use for each part.

Finally, I'm elated to announce that "What I Mean When I Say I'm Autistic" is now an AUDIOBOOK! It's available today at the link below, and coming soon to more stores.

Repairing and digitizing a collection of wire recordings this week. A notoriously difficult carrier to work with, wire snaps easily and can become seriously tangled. Many wires we’ve seen have had multiple (poorly done) old splices or have been damaged by the original user (requiring a lot of repair work in 2024!).
