DJ Nicky "Da Count" Rosales

One day back in the early/mid-eighties, while getting ready to play at a club, Nick’s younger sister handed him one of her records and said he could use it. Later on, while the night was still young, he decided to give it a listen and then a light bulb went off in his head. He cued the record to just the right spot and as the outgoing song came to an end, he let the place go silent for a few secon

ds... and then he let the record go. The crowd stopped, turned to see what’s going on and then heard Sesame Street’s Count Von Count say, “How do you do? History was made that night and he has been known as “The Count” ever since. Years later, Chicago radio station B-96 held it’s 1993 Chicago Mixer Search and he was one of the finalists. He’s also competed in the DMC World Battles, among other DJ battles.
