Roger Waters said that one day Syd Barrett showed up at the rehearsal session with a new song.
The title was "Have You Got It Yet?"
At first the melody of the song seemed very simple to everyone, but little by little as they continued to rehearse it, it continued to get more complicated.
Syd apparently kept changing the arrangement of the song and making changes along the way, accompanying the notes with the question "Have You Got It Yet?"
It soon became clear to everyone that there was no new song and that Syd was just having a session that was a mix of jokes, games and psychedelia.
Waters described the moment as "a real act of mad genius".

I met Steve in the fall of 1990 at CRC where I was his assistant. He rented CRC’s studio 4 a couple weekends each month in those days to track albums- then he’d go back to is bungalow on Francisco and mix.

Iain Burgess was a mentor to Steve and I both but I learned even more from Steve who was always happy to share his approaches and their rationale. I was a long haired slacker/hippy and he was Steve, but he liked me and I got to assist him on quite a few albums for Jesus Lizard, Helmet, Union Carbide, Urge Overkill…. Got to hang out in his attic control room a couple times- he was always happy to discuss microphones- I’ll never forget him showing me his mic cabinet in the basement on Francisco- I was in awe-

Although we hadn’t spoken in quite awhile- we had a number of good talks over the years- it’s a small group of guys that were able to make enough in this business to build their own place- and it’s not easy.

Smart man- good friend.
