Among those partners, 3 percent were Hispanic. Only 1 percent of US law firm partners are Latinas.

Later, as Secretary of Health, she expanded school-based health centers, banned junk food in schools, and led public health initiatives like increasing childhood vaccination rates. Her work has consistently focused on advocating for seniors, veterans, and the disabled, all while striving to help New Mexicans achieve the American Dream.
Her impact didn’t stop there—she served on the Bernalillo County Commission and represented New Mexico’s First Congressional District, where she passed legislation for tribal communities, veterans, and public schools. Now, as the state’s first Democratic Latina governor, she continues to champion New Mexico’s future.
