Ellingtonia presented by the Chicago Jazz Philharmonic | February 8, 2025!

As Chicago Jazz Philharmonic celebrates its 20th Anniversary and Black History Month, the organization marks 50 years since the death of cultural icon, musician, composer, arranger, and conductor Duke Ellington with the world premiere of Ellingtonia.

This concert celebrates the music, grace, dignity, and royalty of Duke Ellington and his orchestra. Named after the compilation album that spanned Duke Ellington’s career – from his first recording session in July 1923 to his last concert in March 1974, Ellingtonia takes place at the Kehrein Center for the Arts, 5628 W. Washington Blvd., in Chicago, IL, on Saturday, February 8 at 1 pm & 7 pm.

Due to the generosity of Chicago Jazz Philharmonic funders, tickets are $1/person.

While the program will include Duke Ellington’s greatest hits and arrangements of his sacred music, Praise, Come Sunday, and Tell Me the Truth, audiences will experience Ellington’s music majesty in new and unexpected ways.

TALKING JAZZ - FLASH BACK with Mike Jeffers interviewing Guitarist Fareed Haque and his collaboration with STING.

From the 2018 FEATURE INTERVIEW.

There was a lot of ground covered in our feature interview with critically acclaimed guitarist Fareed Haque for the December 2018 issue. There is so much great stuff in this interview it was hard to pull just one short clip! His ability to perform in so many different styles, his thoughts on education, and how he sees music in the future are things every musician and music fan should hear. On this short clip he talks about the first time meeting, performing, and recording with Sting and the music that came from those sessions.

This is a short clip of a longer interview Chicago Jazz Magazine did with Fareed Haque for the December 2018 Digital Issue.Watch the entire interview here ht...
