Hey you! Yeah you! Have you ever wanted to host your own radio show?

Well, you’re in luck! FreeRadio SAIC is now accepting proposals for new shows! Whether it’s a show featuring exclusively 1980s horror movie soundtracks or a podcast discussing what you ate for breakfast this week: we want to listen!

Tune in this Friday to a special broadcast by Eric Leonardson's Instrument Construction class. We will be airing this live 2-3pm.

Students present and perform on new music instrument inventions. These include hand crafted acoustic and electronic Inventions, sound sculptures, and wearables, made from readily available materials. In the words of American composer Lou Harrison, "Making an instrument is one of music's greatest joys. Indeed, to make an instrument is in some sense to summon the future."

it is time for OPEN AIR WAVES, our annual Audio Festival.
We accept work from students, staff, and faculty. Any sound piece is good, though we prefer work under 10 mins.

Submissions are due 01/03/2023, and you can submit multiple pieces!

We are going to hold a listening party at the beginning of the Spring 2023 semester to showcase all the audio talent!

Throughout the semester, we do monthly open meetings. The first one will be THIS FRIDAY September 23th in the booth (on the room 1302-C in the MacLean building - 112 Michigan Ave) at 4:30pm!

Anyone is welcome to come and find out more about Free Radio and how to get involved, regardless of whether you are interested in producing a show! We would love to meet and introduce SAIC's audio-based artists and creators to each other.

Come check out the station! It will be a good time, good music, good chats, and info about Free Radio.

Free Radio is looking for students to DJ live events on campus. These are PAID freelance gigs! To apply: Send a resume and sample mix to [email protected]. DJs should be able to play tunes in a variety of genres as well as music suitable for the event. Free Radio provides the equipment and PA system and the DJ may assist with minor set up or break down.
