Power Comics, Inc.

Power Comics, Inc. Power Comics, Inc. is a comic book publishing company focusing on Super Hero Adventures, Horror and Suspense, Fantasy, and Adult Humor. More details to follow.

What began as an idea for a super villain action figure inspired by a famous 20th century artist has evolved into a five-issue comic book story drawn by some of the most notable and talented Bronze Age comic book artists. A team of super-powered super villains, each who's identity is inspired by a famous 20th century artist, come together at the behest of an unidentified benefactor. All being mast

er artists as well as master thieves, this benefactor dubs this new super villain team, The Masters, and contracts them to steal five very specific portrait paintings from around the world. The paintings individually hold insignificant value, but collectively they are priceless to the benefactor who plans to use their power and influence to perpetrate a scheme only known to him. Standing in their way, though, is a team of Golden Age super heroes led by Black Owl and including: Arrow, Airman, Plymo the Rubber Man, Fly-Man, and Twister. Together they form The Guardians and are dedicated to foiling The Masters' evil plan. Who is this unknown benefactor? Why does the benefactor need these specific paintings to carry our his ultimate plan? How can The Power Corps stop The Masters? All will be revealed in the upcoming five-issue series: The Masters. The Masters will be available for purchase via Kickstarter on, or around, October 1, 2021, with the first issue due out March 1, 2022. The format of the story is an homage to the Bronze Age series The Brave and The Bold drawn so beautifully for nearly 100 issues by legendary artist Jim Aparo. As in The Brave and The Bold, each villain is confronted by the main hero (in this case a re-imagined, modernized version of Black Owl) along with a guest hero from the Golden Age of Comics (who has also been re-imagined and modernized). Each villain has their own chapter. And, each chapter is drawn by a different team of artists. Teams that we know would make Jim Aparo proud. Artists were asked to choose their favorite villain and with that came the tasks of drawing their individual chapter AND re-imaging the Golden Age super hero that confronts them in their chapter. Artists were given complete creative freedom in recreating and modernizing these heroes of the past and we cannot wait to unveil them. They are all spectacular! We have assembled a literal “who's who” of over 25 artists from the Bronze Age of comics through to modern day. These artists, and samples of the art they have created for The Masters, will be revealed over the next few weeks leading up to the Kickstarter. Regarding what will be offered via the Kickstarter, here is a sneak peek of what we have planned:

Issue 0 (the story behind The Masters)
Trade paper back (collecting issues 0-5)
Trade hard cover (collecting issues 0-5)

Coming in August to A Kid And A Comic ... Power Comics presents: Tales From Ultra City

Tales From Ultra City is a collection of stories about the flawed super powered beings that inhabit the world's largest city. It's in these flaws we find humanity, humor and heart. There are very real consequences to their actions, often fatal but almost always funny.

Having no memory of her childhood or how she ended up in the Valhalla, a dimension of continuous war and combat, Artemis rose to the rank of Prime. It was at that point she began to fail as a leader by taking far too many unnecessary risks and losing too many soldiers. Each time one is killed in combat they are resurrected, but slightly diminished, to continue the fight. Every warrior in Valhalla tried to earn “The Promise”, a way out of the loop. Just before a demoralizing defeat, Artemis had her Promise fulfilled and was transported to Ultra City where she constantly tries to prove her worth through her self-doubts as she grapples with the question of why she was selected when she didn’t deserve it.

Coming in August to A Kid And A Comic ... Power Comics presents: Conrad and the Demon

"There is a bully at every school, but I bet you've never met someone as mean or as nasty as Conrad! He's always playing diabolical practical jokes on other children.

But one day, when Conrad goes too far, he finds himself in a world of trouble. Spiraling down a staircase of no return, where wizards practice magic even more evil than he could ever imagine!"

SJU Backers, and please check your email inboxes on Wednesday, May 8 for SJU surveys. These have been delayed due to us using a new service that we have had trouble getting accustomed to. But, I think we have all the bugs worked out.

All of the extras will be shipping as soon as possible, like the figures, coins, playsets, etc. The book is still lagging behind by a few months so we will ship that separately to you when it is ready. Any extra expenses to do this will be covered by Power Comics.

That being said, all 22 pages of Issue 1 has been completely penciled and inked, half of it has been colored and all but one of the covers have been completed. And, as my way of saying "thank you" for your patience, please enjoy this teaser of a double splash page below. Art by Steven Butler and colors by James Brown. Can you guess who's hand is pictured in the lower right of the page?

I hope this keeps you excited and gives you the confidence that SJU #1 will be in your hands soon.

And, I promise, just as with The Masters, it will be worth the wait.
We've encountered our share of roadblocks on this project, both professional and personal. But, nothing I feel comfortable going into detail with at this moment. I hope you understand and I appreciate your patience, prayers, and continued support.

The silver lining to this is that while we have been stuck in second gear on SJU, we have been moving swiftly forward with other new titles that will be revealed in greater detail soon, including three new comic strips in the next series of A Kid And A Comic.

Conrad and the Demon is a horror concept from Power Comics and AKAAC alums George Adamczyk and Keith Wilson; Tales From Ultra City is a super-hero comedy from the mind of Scott Pierce along with the art team of Luis Rivera, David Ocampo, and Darrin Wiltshire; and, Dead Of Night is a mystery/suspense/thriller that follows the adventures of newspaper reporter, and best friend of the Black Owl, Barney Dunn (from The Masters Issue 3) as he continues his family tradition of monster hunting. Imagine Karl Kolchak meets Constantine. Luis Rivera and Darrin Wiltshire team up on the art again, with the story coming from yours truly.

The strips from both Tales From Ultra City and Dead of Night will serve as introductions for these titles as they are turned into full-length comics which will be launched on Kickstarter in Spring of 2025.

Oh, and one more thing ... we do have future issues of SJU planned and the next four issues have already been scripted!

Again, thank you for your support, prayers, and patience. We truly appreciate each and every one of you.
