Cruisin' The Decades with Brad Savage begins now on The Gamut, followed by Rules Free Radio with Steve Caplan at 9!

01/31/2025

On this week's Rules Free Radio with Steve Caplan, we’ll catch up on a few new releases including Taffy, Mogwai, The Gentle Spring, Matt Berry, Ela Minus, The Laughing Chimes, new singles from Sorrows and Shake Some, and a few others. And we’ll a lot of older music like Talking Heads, The Byrds, Lost Boys, Nils Lofgren, The Hollies, Dusty Springfield, Susanna Hoffs, Liz Wright, Johnny Rivers, Rodriguez, Jackson C. Frank, Bridget St. John, and a bunch more.

We'll start with one of those oldies as we take this first hour and remember the late Marianne Faithfull, who passed away a few days ago. She was a major figure in swinging 60s British Invasion Pop music. In addition to being a singer, she was Mick Jagger’s girlfriend. After they ended, she went on to more or less reinvent herself from her image as a beautiful ingenue to a worldly woman who survived the often decadent world of 60s pop stardom. We'll her recordings as well as other music she sang on and versions of her songs as done by other artists. It all starts on The Gamut at 9 on Saturday.

Our Story

Free-form radio is a labor of love, and we're hard at work! You can hear us on both AM/FM HD Radio and on standard FM. We're found at 94.3 FM in Frederick, 98.3 in Great Falls, VA, and on HD Radio throughout the DC area on the HD3 of WTOP's FM signals: 103.5 FM HD3 (Washington DC) 107.7 FM HD3 (Manassas, VA) 103.9 FM HD3 (Frederick, MD) Also, our 820 AM signal in Frederick, MD is the first all-digital radio station in the United States! This means that you need an HD Radio to hear our 820 AM signal, but you will get FM-like sound quality, and song information displayed on your radio... give it a try! FYI, any FM HD Radio that has AM as well can pick up the signal when in range. Simply tune your HD Radio to 820 AM, and wait a few seconds for the signal to lock (some radios may give you a brief burst of static and then silence before locking), and enjoy. Let us know where you are hearing 820 AM signal, as we are trying to document how well the signal gets out!
