AUDIO DESCRIPTION WRITING, VOICE-OVER, AND EDITING VIDEOS AND FILMS

COST: $275 for two weeks, 2 hours per week. Mentoring after the class is available.

This course provides practical lessons in Audio Description production for videos and films. Build on your AD skills to learn methods of describing educational, inspirational and entertainment videos and films. It will cover:

• How to determine the style of AD - e.g. inline or extended description.

• Writing to the intended audience and to the needs of the content creator.

• Determining priorities for timing, ordering description and other conventions of videos and films. .

• Voice-over techniques and recording Audio Description for videos and films.

• Mixing narration with soundtrack to produce a final product such as MP4 or other formats.

• Using affordable microphones, audio production software and video editing programs.

• Audio Description Specialist writing description scripts for major films, television series, cable broadcasts, and online streaming providers, including ABC, Discovery Channel, Netflix, and Amazon.
• Train audio describers nationally and internationally to perform description in their chosen fields. I work with staff of companies and individuals.
• Film Festivals providing written, recorded and/or live description of films and videos.
• Extemporaneous description of live events including professional conventions, conferences, and summits, and providing writing and voicing for presenter videos.
• Write description for art experiences and museums. Consult with venues on effective methods of delivery of the service.
• Provide ADA-compliant description/narration for corporate/educational videos, including extended description.
• Consulting support for audio description students starting Audio Description in their local theatrical companies, dance companies, opera and others to start ADA compliant audio description at their venue.
