Rafiah Muhammad-McCormick is the Director of Community Outreach for Tennesseans for Alternatives to the Death Penalty (TADP) and a passionate victim's advocate with Mothers Over Murder. Her journey into this work began after the devastating loss of her son Rodney to gun violence in 2020, which ignited her commitment to supporting victims and fostering community-based solutions to violence prevention.
The Healed People Heal People campaign, which Rafiah leads, is a joint endeavor between TADP and Mothers Over Murder. Together, these organizations work to honor the dignity of all people by advancing evidence-based policies that promote restorative justice and create safer, more equitable communities across Tennessee. This transformative initiative aims to educate victims, address systemic inequities, and amplify survivor voices.
The upcoming Healed People Heal People conference, scheduled for November 15th and 16th in Chattanooga, will focus on victim education and community-based violence prevention. Rafiah’s work with Mothers Over Murder also includes providing advocacy and resources to individuals and families impacted by violence, particularly in under-served communities.
Rafiah’s personal experiences fuel her dedication to building connections and ensuring that healing and justice are accessible to all. Through her efforts with TADP and Mothers Over Murder, she continues to make a lasting impact on individuals and communities across Tennessee.
