It’s never just “blah, blah, blah” to me!

I love hearing someone’s ideas and rolling up my sleeves to make those concepts prime time. Bringing out the best in people is what I love to do—through marketing and communications or as I look toward my future profession as a counselor. Whether I’m crafting a social media campaign or helping someone find their voice, my goal is always the same: to bring out the best version of someone. It’s about listening, understanding, and amplifying what makes them unique. Everyone has a story worth sharing, and I genuinely love being part of the process that makes it shine.

We are thrilled to announce Help4All as our fundraising partner for this special event. 

You may know her as Sally Simonfay, the passionate advocate always striving to make life better, easier, and more manageable for those most affected by homelessness. To me, she’ll always be Sally Gardner, a fellow CHS alum whose parents lived next to mine in Chatham for 15 years. Sally has always led with her heart, so when I thought about where my fundraising efforts could make the biggest impact, she came to mind. 

Help4All is a grassroots organization in Newark, NJ, focused on direct outreach to the homeless community. Each week, Sally and her team provide meals, blankets, clothing, and hygiene kits to hundreds in need. Recently, they discovered a group of homeless women, known as the “Girl Spot,” who live year-round in tents for safety. With your support, Help4All hopes to provide these women with essential winter gear and supplies to help them through the colder months.  

Thank you to Sally, Pat Byrnes (my wonderful stager), MJ from Embel Consulting, who has been my trusted social media marketer for almost four years, Nadielle McArthur, who has generously donated her time and talents, and the ever-inspiring Stephanie Akers, who always steps up and asks, “What can I do to help?” To all of my tribe, thank you. Today is World Mental Health Day, and it’s a perfect time to reflect on the importance of caring for our mental well-being. It’s OK to not feel OK sometimes, but it’s also crucial to take steps towards well-being—whether that’s through self-care, staying connected with loved ones, or seeking support when needed.

Together, we can create a culture where mental health is openly talked about and cared for.

When it comes to using ChatGPT effectively for social media, know when to use it and when to steer clear. It can be a great tool for maintaining grammar, creating efficiency or generating content ideas. However, there are absolutely NO substitutes for authenticity and creativity—two attributes that truly engage your audience. Many people, especially those working in this field, can often distinguish between AI-generated content and what feels genuinely authentic.

Here are some ways to use ChatGPT effectively:

·       Brainstorming ideas:
Use it to generate creative concepts, content themes, or campaign ideas.
·       Grammar refinement:
ChatGPT is excellent for improving grammar, ensuring posts sound polished and professional.
·       Poll and question ideas:
Get help creating interactive polls or questions to spark conversations.
·       SEO optimization:
Use it to identify keywords or phrases to include in your content for better reach.

You should NOT use ChatGPT for:

·       Full post creation: Never rely on it to write entire posts for you. It’s best used as a tool to enhance your message, not replace your creativity.
·       Personal stories or insights:
For emotionally-driven or deeply personal posts, use your own voice and perspective to keep your content genuine.
·       Over-reliance on automation: Too much AI-generated content can feel disconnected and lacking human touch that resonates.
·       Sensitive Topics: Avoid using ChatGPT for posts on highly sensitive or controversial subjects.
·       Real-time Responses: Don’t rely on ChatGPT for real-time interactions or crisis management. Immediate and personalized responses are crucial.
·       Personalized Engagement: ChatGPT may not fully capture the nuances of individual interactions. For high-touch engagement, it’s better to handle personally.

Authenticity is the #1 thing people value on social media. Simply put, technology can’t replicate the raw, genuine essence of content like you can when you open your heart and pour yourself onto a page. Intuitive people always can tell the difference.

Social media is an incredible tool for staying connected and informed. It helps us bridge distances, build support networks, and raise awareness about issues that matter. But it can also lead to unhealthy comparisons and anxiety.

The truth is, you have to be very intentional about social media for it to enhance your life rather than detract from it.

The Good:

·       Stay in Touch: Keep up with friends and family no matter where they are.
·       Find Your Tribe: Join online communities for support and advice.
·       Learn & Grow: Access educational content and awareness campaigns.

The Challenges:

·       Highlight Reels: Remember, you’re seeing the best parts of others’ lives. People aren’t posting about their darkest moments or major life challenges. A major part of the human experience—hardship—is almost entirely omitted.
·       FOMO is Real: It’s okay to miss out on some things; live your life at your own pace.
·       Watch for Addictions: Keep an eye on how much time you’re spending online. Get out and do things you love or grab a book instead.

Tips for a Happier Online Experience:

1.     Set Time Limits: Decide how long you’ll spend on social media each day. Scrolling is not the best way to spend valuable time.
2.     Follow Positivity: Choose accounts that uplift and inspire you. Unfollow the negative ones, block the toxic ex or family member, don’t engage in pointless online arguments.
3.     Engage with Purpose: Interact with content that adds joy and value to your life. Yes, social media can actually uplift you.
4.     Take Breaks: Step away from the screen and enjoy the real world.
5.     Practice Gratitude: Focus on the positive things in your life.
6.     Seek Support: If you find that social media is negatively impacting your mental health, reach out to friends, family, or mental health professionals for support.

By balancing our online presence and focusing on our own lives, we can enjoy the benefits of social media without getting consumed. Happy scrolling—keep it short and intentional!

I couldn’t love this any more. Witnessing women cheering for each other with such enthusiasm and selflessness is exactly the kind of support we need to see more of in the world. ❤️

Simone Biles and Jordan Chiles literally bowed down to Brazilian gymnast Rebeca Andrade on the podium as she claimed first place in the gymnastics floor final.

Apparently Simone said that Jordan asked Simone, "Should we bow to her?" And Simone replied, "Absolutely."

“It was just the right thing to do.”

Can you just imagine?

Can you just imagine if women ALWAYS cheered for each other so enthusiastically, so boldly, so unapologetically, so joyfully, so selflessly?

Can you just imagine if women didn’t feel threatened by each other’s successes and used them instead as motivation?

Can you just imagine if women supported other women, simply because “it was just the right thing to do?”

This. Is. Everything.

And this is why I love the Olympics—because we don’t look to them just as an example of what we could be as athletes, we look to them as an example of what we could be as humans.

Last week, I shared a post about my plans to return to graduate school. I was taken aback by the number of friends who reached out to me and shared their own stories about wanting to start a business, earn another degree, and more. All of them are women and mothers, each incredibly intelligent and beautiful, both inside and out—women I deeply admire and respect. This made me seriously consider all the untapped talent, intelligence, and dreams that reside within us, often hidden in the shadows and never given the opportunity to shine and make a meaningful difference.

As women, we pour our time, energy, and devotion into our children and families out of love and with the best of intentions. However, we sometimes neglect ourselves without even noticing. One day, we might realize that our jobs or roles as stay-at-home moms aren’t as fulfilling as we once thought. We might wish for more—whether through education, career, travel, or other pursuits.

There is no easy route or perfect time, only the time you intentionally carve out for yourself and the determination to make it happen. None of it is easy, but the things truly worth pursuing in life are always the hardest. It is tough to call the shots and prioritize yourself, especially when it doesn’t come naturally. I relate to this all too well. But dreams don’t come knocking on your door. If something is living inside you, trying to break free and bring some good into the world while making you feel more alive, then by all means, without guilt or remorse, let it out.

Waiting for the perfect moment to chase our dreams may mean losing the chance to ever try.

Somewhere between becoming a mom and settling into the familiar and comfortable routine of everyday life, I felt myself drifting away from the aspects I have loved most in my career: connecting with people and helping them thrive, become the best versions of themselves, and navigate challenges.

The reality is, we don’t find the things that are truly meant for us in life by continuing to coast along those easy and familiar roads.

Northwestern, here I come. I’ve never felt more ready. 💜

Yesterday, I had a funny conversation with a client, which was all about other people’s social media content rather than her own. She wanted to transform her newsfeed into a source of inspiration and strength. She wasn’t happy with what she was seeing and asked me to help curate it. This is my cup of tea!

We focused on the power of surrounding ourselves with uplifting and motivating influences, both online and in real life. The people and content we engage with play a huge role in shaping our mindset, well-being and yes, even our overall health. By following accounts that align with our personal goals and encourage growth, we can create a digital space that truly inspires us to be our best selves. Whether it’s friends, mentors, or influencers, opt for connections that bring joy, motivate you and enhance your journey in this one life you have to live.

Curating your newsfeed is a fantastic way to focus on what fuels your ambition and happiness. By doing so, you’ll not only brighten your digital experience but also enrich your everyday life. Don’t be afraid to unfollow what doesn’t serve you; your peace and growth are SO worth it.

Choose people and things that truly make you better at your core (ditch the rest), and watch how your world transforms. ❤️

As a mom you naturally take on various roles in your kids’ lives, and let’s keep it real, some of those roles aren’t too glamorous (laundry lady, homework enthusiast, impartial referee). However, one of my favorites is being their fellow adventurer. This pic was taken off the coast of Costa Rica around Isla Tortuga last month as we headed out to snorkel. I love seeing the world through their eyes, and I can’t wait for many more adventures, especially this summer. You fill my life every day, girls, and I’m so glad you’re mine (even when you call me “bro”). ILYSM!
