..::Purpose::.. To create a place for the international community to commune, create, and relate through pop culture discovery and socially responsible works.
.::History::.. The International Music Selecta Society (IMSSociety) headquarters is based in Charlotte, NC. The idea for IMSSociety started back in 2010 when the founder returned from her study abroad journey in the UK. She realized that a

ll the relationships she established in the UK were all based on a shared love for music. Then in the summer of 2011 IMSSociety founder, Kia O. Moore, landed an internship at Black Entertainment Television (BET). She interned with BET International, the division of BET Networks devoted to beaming American Black Pop Cultural content to the UK, Ireland, Africa, the Caribbean, and the Middle East. While at this internship she had to log hours upon hours of video. She was assigned to watch music videos from all over the world and catalog them. When other interns fast-forwarded through videos, she would find herself actually watching them. She would find herself grooving to UK Grime hits, Congolese R&B ballads, Benin soul singing, Nigerian chart toppers, and so on. This exprience showed her she had just tipped the iceberg of the wonderfully diverse international mainstream music marketplace. She knew there was so much more music and culture to discover, but how could she do it? Then, Bingo! She realized that social media was a tool that keeps people connected, no matter the border restrictions. She thought, "Why not use social media to connect with people of all cultures through a topic she holds dear to her heart, POP CULTURE?" After that realization, the International Media Selectors Society (IMSSociety) was created. The first International Music Selecta Society event (then International Music Selectors Society) was the "We Own the Night Rave" in February 2012. The rave had a "social change" element to it. People did not just come out and party, they were "partying for a cause." That cause was to raise awareness about the international problem of human trafficking. That event landed Kia an internship with the socially conscious cable television network Halogen TV. There she learned how to leverage the power of entertainment to make a positive social change in society. Being That Kia is a 2009 Leadershape Alumni, she was taught the importance of social entrepreneurship. Now the International Music Selecta Society aims to blend the best of both worlds, QUALITY pop culture & GOOD deeds.
