KERSHAW, S.C. — Celebrate Thanksgiving weekend with kart racing at Carolina Kart Park! This event features an optional practice day on Friday Nov. 29 with sprint races on Saturday Nov. 30. All practice and race sessions will be running the full 0.7-mile layout.

General camping is no charge.

Rules will be per the 2024 CKNA Rule Book. Tire must be Vega VAH.

Mandatory tech on Saturday morning.

Mandatory fuel to be used will be 93 octane which is available on site (pay-at-the-pump station).

Minor Policy: If you are a driver under 18 years of age you must have a signed and notarized Minor Waiver Form completed. If you do not have this form completed, you will not be able to get into Carolina Motorsports Park and on track. Minor Annual Waiver.pdf

𝐑𝐎𝐀𝐃 𝐑𝐀𝐂𝐄 𝗪𝐄𝐃𝐍𝐄𝐒𝐃𝐀𝐘 — AKRA confirms 2025 National Road Racing Series schedule

TIFTON, Ga. — American Kart Road-Racing Alliance has announced their 2025 National Road Racing Series schedule.

In 2025, AKRA is once again partnering with host clubs Dart Kart Club and Woodbridge Kart Club for a five-race national series. Demonstrating consistency and stability, next year’s schedule closely mirrors the recently concluded 2024 series.

The only change is with Round 1, now scheduled for May 16-18 at the North Carolina Center for Automotive Research (NCCAR). The NCCAR Nationals will take place two weeks later than in 2024, when it was held on the first weekend of May.

This will mark the third consecutive AKRA National at NCCAR, and it’s hosted by the Woodbridge Kart Club.

Dart Kart Club will host Round 2 of the series at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, which has served as the biggest road race in the country for a number of years. The 2025 Mid-Ohio Nationals will be held on the traditional Fathers Day weekend of June 13-15.

Dart Kart returns to action with AKRA for Round 3 at Nelson Ledges Road Course July 18-20. The 2025 Nelson Ledges Nationals will be the seventh annual visit to the 2-mile Northeast Ohio circuit.

In Round 4, AKRA reunites with Woodbridge Kart Club for the Summit Point Nationals on August 22-24. Continuing the recent tradition for AKRA and WKC, the event will take place on Summit’s historic 2-mile Summit Point (formerly Main) Circuit.

The 2025 series will close September 26-28 with Dart Kart at Pittsburgh International Race Complex. The Pittsburgh Nationals will be held on Pitt Race’s 2.78-mile, 19-turn Full Circuit.

The AKRA National Road Racing Series is the largest of its kind in North America and is proud to be sponsored by Hoosier Kartsport, TS Racing, RLV Tuned Exhaust Products, Michigan Kart Supply and FHS Superior Synthetic Motor Oil.

206 Senior Light Class Added to Daytona KartWeek Sprint

CONCORD, N.C. — WKA has responded to numerous requests by adding a 206 Light class (340 #, age 14 and up) to Daytona KartWeek's sprint race.

Like WKA did last year with this class, any Junior driver that is 14 (must be 14) can enter both 206 Junior and 206 Light only. Additionally, anyone who has not yet registered will now see the Light class as an option.

Please note that participants adding Light must settle any outstanding balances upon completing their updated entries.

Tomorrow — Saturday, Oct. 26 at 3pm — is Mike Birdsell's celebration of life at the Troutman Funeral Home at 345 N. Main St, Troutman, NC 28166.

Hope to see a lot of karters there for Mike!!

Mike Birdsell Memorial Service announced —

A memorial service / celebration of life will be held Saturday, October 26 for karting legend Mike Birdsell, who passed away on July 2.

Mike's karting friends are welcomed to join to remember the 65-year kart racing veteran at the Troutman Funeral Home at 345 N. Main St, Troutman, NC 28166. The service will begin at 3pm.

Following the service, all are welcomed for a party at Micah's Bar & Live Music at 229 Medical Park Rd, Mooresville, NC 28117. The party will begin around 5pm. Micah's was one of Mike's favorite spots in the Lake Norman area, and their staff was happy to welcome his family and friends to celebrate his life.

The Birdsell family looks forward to seeing many of Mike's extended karting family at the service and party to celebrate his life, much of which centered on the sport he loved and the people he shared it with. 🙏 🏁

This November 29-30 (Fri-Sat after Thanksgiving) will be the 2nd Annual Carolina Turkey Shootout at Carolina Motorsports Park's 0.7-mile "Carolina Kart Park" kart track!

This year's Thanksgiving CMP race will adopt a Vega tire rule and run the 9-division CKNA class structure. Friday is optional practice and Saturday is practice/qualifying/heat/feature for all divisions.

As a bonus, two FREE race entries to the CKNA Winter Nationals will be awarded to two race winners — one from the four junior class finals and one from the five senior class finals.

World Karting Association Gold Cup is at North Florida Kart Club / 103rd Street in Jacksonville Nov. 22-24, and pre-entry is now open for the Grand National event at https://raceselect.com/wka/2024.

WKA Gold Cup Grand National Turkey Shootout Entry Now Open 🦃

No WKA membership required for this event. Promotional Early Bird Discount until tonight at 10pm. The entry fee is reduced by $30 - take advantage of the savings! You can pay in full or pay $100 now and balance at the track. You can also reserve your pit spots and RV camping.

If you plan to practice on Friday, please select the optional practice option. Remember, if you’re using your own transponder, ensure you enter the correct number—don’t leave it blank or use random numbers.

For tires, you’ll need Vega VAH race tires, which are NOT part of registration. They don’t have to be “NEW,” but drivers must present the set they plan to race with for scanning at tech before qualifying.

The timeline will be released later this week, we plan to end early on Sunday just running the finals that day! It will be a single final event.

For this event, only the Masters age will be 33 and up (weight 390) and Juniors that are of the age of 14 can also run Junior and 206 Light.

$1,000.00 Prize money for classes with 10 or more entrants and door prizes.
$500 for 1st Place
$300 for 2nd Place

6 heat races for each class. Over 90 laps of racing. 90 minutes of on track practice time available for each class.

Each heat will be longer and worth more points than the previous heat. Points will accumulate and the grid will line up based on total points. Qualifying and Heats 1 through 4 will run on Saturday on the Full Track CCW. Heats 5 and 6 will run Sunday on the Full Track CW. The winner of the showdown will be the driver with the most points accumulated over the 6 heats.
