We tend to agree with the Charlestown Neighborhood Council’s belief that the redesign of Rutherford Avenue proposed by the city will make that entire area more pedestrian friendly and might ultimately re-shape the future of the industrial area on the southern side of the avenue.

The BTD and its consultants will outline proposed strategies for improving the current and future traffic flow on Rutherford Avenue and in Sullivan Square. The presentation will be followed by a question and answer session.

The data presented will show how the Surface Option and redesign at Sullivan Square and Austin Street will improve present and future traffic conditions. The Surface Option will also accommodate traffic from the redevelopment of Assembly Square in Somerville (IKEA).
