Screaming Butterfly Entertainment in association with Ellefson Films and BayView Entertainment is proud to announce the premiere of the fully authorized long awaited Nick Menza documentary film "This Was My Life, Nick Menza’s Metal Memories With Megadeth And Beyond," on Thursday, February 13th at Laemmle NoHo 7 Movie theater in Los Angeles, CA.

Laemmle is located at 5240 Lankershim Blvd, North Hollywood, CA. The film's official trailer, ticket price and other information will be made available in the days ahead so save the date.

Screaming Butterfly Entertainment in association with Ellefson Films has inked a worldwide deal with BayView Entertainment for the release to the long awaited Nick Menza documentary film "This Was My Life, Nick Menza’s Metal Memories With Megadeth And Beyond"
The film's red carpet premiere is set to take place in L.A. With a limited theatrical run in selected U.S. markets. It will also be available for digital streaming and on physical media including Blu-ray Disc. The trailer and official release dates will be announced in the weeks ahead.

Hey Everyone! Post-production on our new feature documentary film, This Was My Life: The Story of Nick Menza, is FINALLY nearing completion! I'm currently polishing up everything and pulling together the credit sequence. All of you who supported us through our Indiegogo campaign will also see your name and/or messages about Nick in the credits if you chose that as a perk! It has been a long road, but we have overcome the setbacks and persevered. I thank everyone for being so patient and supportive during the process. We are talking with distributors next, so keep your eyes peeled on where and when you can see the film - we won't know until we reach a deal with the distributor and/or festival showings. But as soon as we know, we will pass along the info. I've been working on adding credits to the IMDB, so if you want to see who all that we have interviewed, check out the link to the IMDB below!

Hi everyone! I finally took the time to do a Cinematography Reel of some of my film work.

Video contains scenes from some recent projects where I was the Director of Photography.

In these projects I responsible for filming, running camera, lighting design and ex*****on, and technical aspects related to cinematography.

I wanted this short to be a showcase of my different skills and techniques including:
Narrative coverage, music video, gimbal, slider, drone, green screen FX work, tripod, beauty lighting, lighting for effect, indoor/outdoor, high key/low key, handheld and more.

I am ALMOST DONE with the next feature -- the Nick Menza documentary that's been in the works for what feels like forever. It's taken a while because due to some setbacks, the last bit of postproduction hit a few speedbumps and I had to pull myself up by my bootstraps and push on alone in the animation aspect. It has taken a toll on me for sure....BUT I am SO CLOSE to the finish line. Long nights, and no free time is coming to an end.....I am happy to have been able to make this film though! :)

But until the time for the doc to release, just in case you missed our last feature film, the dramatic thriller My Autopsy - it is currently available to stream on:

He and Nick's sister Donia along with OHM/Kings of Thrash guitarist Chris Poland and close friend Dr. Randall Kertz, who was Ellefson’s bass tech from 1989-90, will be on hand for the showing and for Q&A afterwards. DOCUMENTARY TRAILER ON LATE MEGADETH DRUMMER NICK MENZA TO PREMIERE AT THE ELLEFSON COFFEE CO. BOOTH DURING THE 2024 NAMM SHOW

The Ellefson Coffee Co.® booth number 5030 located inside Hall D will feature the VIP Rock & Roll Lounge Experience, and will premiere the official trailer for the documentary film This Was My Life: The Story of Nick Menza on Saturday January 27, 2024 at 12pm PST.

The premier will be hosted by David Ellefson & Nick Menza’s sister Donia Menza Ontiveros, and will be open to any NAMM attendees and media at the show. A Q&A will follow the premier joined by OHM/Kings of Thrash guitarist Chris Poland and close friend Dr. Randall Kertz, who was Ellefson’s bass tech from 1989-90, both of whom are featured in the film.

Says Ellefson, "After several years in the making, it's a real honor to be able to give a sneak preview of what this film will ultimately look like. Nick had a storied career and an even more incredible life. Says Director Holly Mollohan Grayson, “This special project is one that is very close to my heart. I’m a part of the generation that spent the entirety of their teenage years in the 1990s. The soundtrack of our lives played every day on MTV and Headbangers Ball. That was the period of time when Nick was making his mark as a metal legend in Megadeth, so of course I was very familiar with his work. I am honored to be able to explore who he was beyond his amazing talent for the drums."

Nick Menza is best-known as the drummer for thrash metal titans Megadethfrom 1989-1998, playing on some of the band’s most commercially successful albums to date, including Rust In Peace, Countdown to Extinction, Youthanasia & Cryptic Writings. Following his time in Megadeth, Menza wrote his memoir “MEGA LIFE” and in 2016, while performing at The Baked Potato jazz club in Studio City, CA suffered a massive heart attack and died.

The documentary film is directed by Holly Mollohan Grayson for Screaming Butterfly Entertainment, in association with Ellefson Films, and narrated by David Ellefson. The film highlights Nick’s life growing up in a musical household in Southern California and continues through his legendary career with Megadeth and beyond.
