Charleston High School boys’ basketball junior guard Tyler Oakley became the 14th Trojan in school history to score 1,000 points during the team’s game at Paris High School Tuesday night. Oakley is the second Trojan to score 1,000 career points in less than a week, joining senior guard Luke Bonnstetter who achieved the milestone on Friday during the Trojans’s senior night loss to Marshall. It is the first time in school history two players scored their 1,000th career point in the same week, according to head coach Brian Deadmond. Video by Bryce Parker

Next year, Eastern’s volleyball team will not be at Groniger Arena.
The Panthers will hold all of their practices and play all of their home games starting in the fall 2025 season in south McAfee Gym, the university announced last week in a press release.
The move and renovations to McAfee gym are funded by a grant from Eastern alum Joe Gardella and his family. Upon completion of the renovations to the south gym, and pending approval from the EIU board of trustees, the arena will be named after the Gardella family.
