Join us for Thursday Night Feature from 9:30pm – midnight for a special focus on the expansive world of Chinese Pop music! Get ready to dive deep into this surprisingly diverse genre (a single artist like Miss Ko dabbles in techno, r&b, jazz, and hip-hop), from its roots to its modern twists. Learn how interconnected Chinese pop music is with Korean pop music – even with the obvious language barrier, artists collaborate all the time – and how Chinese musicians are beginning to enter the Western music scene as well! If nothing else, tune in so you can hear me try and fail to read in traditional Chinese!

Hello WXYC Community,

We as a management team have compiled every song that our forever DJ, DJ Sally, has played throughout her time in the station. This Sunday starting at 10 AM, we will be broadcasting all of these songs in her honor. We hope you can listen to this show and experience the thought and care Sally put into all of her sets, and honor her memory.

“Here at WXYC, we are lucky to explore music across all genres and voices. Black artists time and time again have used their voice to call for justice against police brutality, racist institutions that hold power in this country, and accountability for white leaders who turn their heads to the pleads and demands of black people. For me, playing black artists on the airwaves allows me to share their truth for our audience to listen. To listen to black voices and to try and grasp where their anguish, rage, and power comes from. Here at WXYC, my management team and I stand with black lives. We stand for nationwide justice and reform. We support black voices. And we mourn the murders of black bodies including George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbery--only a few from a long list of those who died in the hands of white police or vigilantes. Take direct action and listen.”

- Aysha Diallo, Station Manager
&
WXYC Management
