Catherine Berg committed to writing a Haiku poem every morning for a year in her North Florida gardens. Her poems celebrate the minute changes that take place during the course of the seasons. We are so proud to announce the publication of her collection of beautiful Haiku poems, A Book of Days!

TO EVERY THING THERE IS A SEASON

For more than twenty years I have had the honor and privilege of working with hundreds of people, many of whom haven’t considered themselves “authors” or “writers,” but who have written something meaningful and wanted to publish it in a professional way. Many of these clients have become my friends over the years. I never imagined that Chapel Hill Press would bring me such joy and fulfillment.

That said, it is time for me to hang up my publisher hat and pass the leadership of Chapel Hill Press to someone who has the same passion as I and who can take the business to the next level. I am delighted to announce that Katie Davis Severa, longtime colleague and masterful graphic designer, is the new owner of Chapel Hill Press. There is no one more qualified or enthusiastic to take on this role than Katie. Our clients won’t miss a beat, and I can step away knowing that the business is in great hands. It’s been a fantastic ride! Welcome Katie!

It’s time to sit in a rocker on the front porch with your iced tea glass within reach. Open this book and imagine Bill Stewart sitting next to you telling his stories. You will find yourself rocking back and forth in laughter, in sorrow, and in astonishment. How could he endure so much heartache and still experience so much joy? How can he describe a walk through the woods so vividly that you are transported there? How did he learn to talk with the hoot owls? You will hope that he keeps on telling another story. You will be startled by his honesty, awed by his perception, and flabbergasted by his enduring love for this aching world.

28 of the most powerful lines of poetry ever written

What’s your favorite poetry lines?

The rhythm of the tongue brings wordless music into the air; it is in poetry that the human essence is refined to such ritualistic purity. It's in the steady beats, the sonorous rise-and-fall of speech; for a moment it appears as if all the mysteries of the world have unlocked themselves to our priv...

Taking Your Grandparents to Museums Could Improve Their Health

Great article for those adults among us that are fortunate enough to have their grandparents.

Research published last week by the NEA found that older adults who attended cultural events reported better mental and physical health than those who did not.

Congratulations to Bishop Estill on the publication of THE SUN SHINES BRIGHT. With a wit and insight that's uniquely Robert W. Estill, this is a delightful read about the life of a remarkable man of faith. You can get your copy here: http://www.chapelhillpress.com/product/the-sun-shines-bright/

Those of us fortunate enough to have lived long lives could write volumes of memories. I am amazed to think that my father interned as a physician in New York when horses pulled the ambulances. Now that I’ve joined the “cane gang,” I could, if I had the time and the knowledge, write about the arriva...
