Champaign County has a rich history in film, most notably with the renowned Ebertfest, Roger Ebert's Film Festival held at the Historic Virginia Theatre. Each April, dozens of films are screened and panel discussions held showcasing directors, producers and actors. The CU Film Society has introduced the Pens to Lens series, introducing K-12 students to filmmaking as their screenplay is brought to life by local filmmakers.
Most recently, the film Consumed was shot and produced entirely in Champaign County, featuring a wide variety of locales to tell a story of a mother on a quest to uncover the cause of her son's mysterious illness.
