BREAKING NEWS: Cherokee County High School hired Bayley Blanchard as its new head football coach on Monday. The hiring became official at a special-called Cherokee County Board of Education meeting.
Blanchard guided the Class 3A Glencoe Yellow Jackets to a 7-4 record last season, his first as a head coach. It was the Yellow Jackets’ best record since 2015. Prior to last season, Blanchard spent three years as an assistant with the Yellow Jackets.
Blanchard is a 2016 Piedmont graduate, where he helped the Bulldogs earn a state championship in 2015 as a wide receiver. He played college ball at West Alabama, where he earned All-Gulf South Conference honors in three seasons.
Blanchard takes over for former Warrior coach Jacob Kelley, who resigned as head coach last month. Kelley guided the Warriors to a 65-23 record in seven seasons, including three straight Class 4A runners-up from 2022-24. The Warriors went 7-4 last season.
More on Blanchard’s hiring will be posted shortly on the WEIS Radio website, weisradio.com.
