FROM THE BOONE COUNTY COMMMISSION
Due to additional snow accumulation expected and deteriorating driving conditions, non-essential Boone County Government offices and departments will be closed on Monday, January 6, 2025. The 13th Circuit Court will also be closed at that time. All meetings previously scheduled to occur at Boone County buildings have been cancelled.
Residents should assume travel on Monday will be dangerous at best, if not impossible. All efforts should be made to avoid travel as all surfaces, including roadways, sidewalks, driveways, and even grass may be snow/ice-covered.
Residents are reminded not to call 9-1-1 unless there is an actual emergency occurring.
For additional weather information and changes in the weather forecast, please monitor local media outlets, social media, print media, and the National Weather Service.

Severe Weather Expected in Mid-Missouri

The Boone County Office of Emergency Management is advising
residents to prepare for a winter storm expected from Saturday night through Monday morning. The
storm may bring freezing rain, ice, heavy snow, high winds, or a combination of these conditions to
Mid-Missouri. Residents are urged to take the following steps to ensure their safety:
• Build a winter weather kit: Ensure your home and vehicles are stocked with essential
supplies before the storm hits.
• Sign up for Emergency and Weather Alerts: Visit the Boone County Ready webpage and
sign up for timely Boone County Ready Alerts.
• Minimize travel: Stay indoors unless absolutely necessary. If travel is required, do so
during the day, inform others of your schedule, and stay on main roads.
• Prepare for power outages: Have alternative heat sources like blankets and approved
space heaters. Never use propane grills, camp stoves, or generators indoors to avoid
carbon monoxide poisoning.
“With the onset of a significant winter snowstorm predicted to begin tonight, it is important for
everyone to be prepared and know when to take action,” said Emergency Management Director
Chris Kelley. “Monitor the forecast closely and sign up for Boone County Ready Alerts to receive
timely updates. Once the snowstorm starts, please stay indoors as much as possible, and
remember to give our Public Works crews the space they need to safely clear roads of snow and
ice.”
The Boone County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) will fully activate at 8:00 PM tonight and remain operational throughout the storm. Full activation will bring together agencies and partners
for real-time resource sharing, problem-solving, and coordination.
For additional weather information and updates, please monitor local media outlets, social media, pri nt media, and the National Weather Service.
