A brief history of Kah Turad: part 4
Natural Minority peoples of Kah Turad
This tome addresses the lore surrounding people who do not rightly fit into the parameters of men and elves.further excluding the sentient be****al peoples who appeared in later centuries
Firstly the orcs
Orcs are typically violent rough creatures who's creator did not bother adding any of the more refined traits in while designing them. They do not create new tools or equipment but will "repair " that which they acquire for as long as they can. Until ultimately it falls apart past the point of fixing.
They build their homes in mobile circlet villages forming their huts into the exterior wall surrounding a impromptu courtyard at the center. The gaps between the huts are filled with plates of steel and canvas covered wood from cobbled pieces of armor taken from the bodies of their fallen enemies.
They are prone to interbreeding with non orcs due to a belief that seeking out the strong and mixing blood brings new strength to the hoard. However if that offspring should fail to keep up , break a tusk( considered a great disgrace) or fail to kill an enemy it is considered half an orc and are cast out of the hoard to wander.
Halforcs are rarely accepted anywhere but the hoards or the mercenaries of the company of deaths bastards. A halforc with great skill might become an adventurer but should expect harsh treatment most places.
Secondly there are dwarves
Dwarves are rare to see in Kah Turad but do occasionally surface from their hidden cities to make trade though many speculate they are not but spies paying close attention to the defenses of the surface world.
Dwarves have developed many technological wonders as they isolate themselves deep beneath the bedrock. Many of which are weapons made to fight there mortal foes the goblins and the invading nivijar elves. Weapons such as black powder archabus' and cannons. Which they use to great effect
Magic and technology are not considered different ideas among the dwarves and they are masters of blending craftsmanship and magic as one.
They also still utilize the soulforged atomotons
That caused them to be shunned by the surfeceduellers to begin with.
Concerning Halflings
Halflings are stout round bellied folk who rarely grow past 4'tall. they worship Dola the goddess of good cheer, libation, smoking herbs, storytelling and Marymaking.
This worship makes them quite pleasant company for they are quick to make friends and slow to make enamies, because everyone loves a party.
Contrary to popular belief halflings do not have greater matabalism for alcohol then others in fact its the opposite they can't motabilize it at all and therefor get drunk fairly quickly.
Halflings have a tradition of the "long walk" were a young halfling of 50 sets off to traverse the continent from coast to coast and back, alternatively one could circumnavigate the continent. Upon completion of this task one can be considered an adult among the small communities dotting the blue hills they call home.
They also make excellent mediators for they can make friends almost anywere and are rarely frightened by intimidation.
Gnome caravans and other communities.
Gnomes are often in one of two forms of family based gang. weather they are in the nomadic trade caravans or the artisan communities that make human cities their home. Gnomes are almost always associated with crime. though they are compelled to follow threw on a contract, one should never take what a gnome says at face value.
Gnomes are 2'tall maximum with mat grey skin spindly limbs and angular features on squarish faces. They sport bright pastel colored hair that is thick a bristly. They often perfer vibrant clothes and often have brightly colored tattoos.
Reputation for crime aside gnomes are renowned for reliable clockwork technology. if you seek a complex mechanism a gnome is probably where you should start looking.
Nomadic gnomes travel along the roads in armored wagons built like mobile fortresses compleat with battlements and crenelations for they are often attacked on route by orcs and other monstrous creatures. This has forced the gnomes to adapt and pioneer many battle strategies that they use to great effect.
When threatened they circle there wagons in such a way that protects their oxen and they fill up the gaps with wooden planks then they defend their mobile fortress from the battlements with long wooden flails and Scythe's adapted from agricultural tools. For personal defense they are known for using knives and truncheons.
