I’ve been reading this book - The Illusion of Money by Kyle Cease - and while the title gives the impression that money is the focus, it’s actually a small part. The book is really about the illusion of us, who we are, the stories we hold onto and the bu****it we tell ourselves on the daily.
We find all the reasons to go back to the same routines and habits and then we get so upset with ourselves when things never change. Or worse, we get so upset with the externals (people, jobs, where we live) and we think they are the cause for our lack of success.
Whatever success is, because what’s the chance we’ve actually defined it in some way aside from more money....
The truth is, we’re the reason we haven’t had the success we believe we should have.
