I’ve always been enthralled by her loving nature and her ability to speak life into others. Her beautiful attributes have been evident to me for many years now, but our first interaction was in 2015, at the University of Northern Iowa. Vicki St. James was my College Writing & Research Professor. 

Listen as we dive into the dedication it took for Vicki, a single parent, to raise her five children while working full-time—and spending fifteen years in college to attain her three degrees: a BA and two MAs. 

Vicki’s unique road to living her best life is fueled by her ardent quest for knowledge and her intense love for reading, which she developed from a very early age. We speak on instilling a love of literature in her children and then again with her grandchildren. 

After nearly a decade of teaching at numerous institutions of higher learning, Vicki has been enjoying her second chapter in radio, as the first chapter had closed by choice—rather precipitously back in 2006. When given the chance to return to her first love, radio, she embraced the opportunity!

Hello. Thanks for clicking on my page! I’m Samuel Belser.

Recently, I’ve started to enjoy saving and spending money. 😜 I’m the oldest of 5 and my parents encouraged me to “get a job”. I started by helping babysit my younger 4 siblings this summer, pulling weeds for neighbors, walking dogs, and helping others when needed with small task. It wasn’t until I took $40 of my own money and invested in Safe Sitter, Inc. and now that I am SAFESITTER CERTIFIED✅, my mom said she would help me with a page. (I’ve only been asking her all summer.)

A little about me: I enjoy spending time with family, but love school just as much. I like playing lots of different sports, video games and hanging out with friends when I can. I chose the name “The Good SAMaritan Services” because of a sermon in church that made me think of myself. My dad and mom have always encouraged me to help others when needed and be a good friend. I’ve learned the smallest acts of kindness or taking a little extra time to help someone can make a big difference. Also, my name is SAMuel and even though my dad doesn’t like it when people call me Sam, it makes sense and it happens. 😂

Consumed with feelings of guilt and shame from the breakdown of her first marriage, Jalissa didn’t know if she’d ever want to pursue love again. Until, out of curiosity, she took a course with a relationship coach that changed everything.

Hear how Jalissa took control of her future by answering some tough questions about herself and where she wanted her life to go. Finding someone with the same passions and goals led Jalissa down the aisle to become Mrs. Jalissa Rose.

We chat authentically about the difficulties that remarriage presents while Jalissa takes steps to heal from her past. They are packed away in a box on the top shelf in the dusty garage.

A uniform once worn with such pride. I took them off and tried to forget all about the tough times, the sleepless nights, the lost friends…

If I could just get back to “normal”.

Today is session three with a licensed psychologist. I’ve got to unpack some of those old boxes. They no longer suite the life I’m living.

My life isn’t all sunshine and rainbows, but when the tough times come I’m grateful to have a community of people I can lean on. This is your reminder that even though the road may be difficult, it is worth the walk.

I’m blessed with the best friends.

Today was a podcast recording day and Trish helped us out by taking our youngest kids for the morning.
